An Engineer within Commercialization Engineering Organization joins a team responsible for i) design and development of manufacturing processes both for new product technologies and currently marketed products & ii) reformulation of existing product portfolio where necessary in order to maintain business continuity. Process design scope is scale up from lab bench to full plant scale, end-to-end manufacturing - bulk & filling. Process Development Engineers design, develop & define the processes & parameters required to ensure the robust, reliable manufacture with the desired product quality, experience & performance characteristics.

An Engineer within this group will help understand & apply the principles of process design and scale-up to define robust & reliable end to end manufacturing processes. They will plan & execute their own work supporting the projects, delivering it reliably, punctually, ensuring quality content & sharing learnings. They will build category understanding of ELC products, packages / devices, using their technical knowledge to generate & analyze data, recognize & flag unexpected learnings. They will become competent in standard operating procedures & methodologies used within their department.

Principal Accountabilities

Helps design & develop manufacturing processes:

  • Builds category understanding - eg technologies, raw materials, formulae types, manufacturing equipment & processes to develop commercially feasible approaches.

  • Executes programs to develop processes that deliver quality products. Defines comprehensive technical standards (ex: procedures, specifications) to capture learnings and manufacturing requirements accordingly. Understands test methods of physical characteristics and interprets relevant test data to improve process design.

  • Executes & analyses own work in a timely fashion. Uses understanding of engineering & science to perform work, including generating & analyzing data. Becomes proficient in standard operating procedures relevant to job.

  • Documents & summarizes data - submits reports & integrates data into technical models to document technical readiness & define how the required product attributes are delivered, the processing levers, boundaries & controls, critical process parameter set points and ranges. Builds experience & confidence in making suggestions for next steps.

  • Communicates results or observations to supervisor & team members. Learnings help Identify & qualify new technologies & technical routes for breakthrough benefits. Recognizes & flags unexpected learnings. Suggests how they could impact the project objectives.

  • Brings in latest generational approaches & identifies where can apply to their projects & the business. Mentors up on new technologies / generational norms.

  • Understand the Patent system & how to use it effectively to protect the business. Aware of patent strategy on project. Keeps abreast of IP landscape through peer reviewed journals, patent searches and Mintel.

  • Minimum BS in Chemical Engineering.

  • Approx 2-3 years relevant industry experience.
