Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our Mission Systems sector site in Apopka, FL. This position is to support the design, integration, test, and production of laser and electro-optical systems for handheld, ground, and airborne products.

Candidate will have design, test, and documentation experience in the area of power supply and analog electronics associated with low / medium power lasers and electro-optic devices. Familiarity with digital interface electronics associated with communication and control of power / analog electronics CCA's is expected with mixed signal CCA design experience a plus. Candidate should have background in EMI / EMC design and test in the range of frequencies from MHz to GHz, as well as familiarity with Vehicle and Aircraft Power Specifications. The use of electronic modeling and design tools is required as well as experience in generating drawings and bill of materials (BOMs) for production and development projects. Experience in circuit card layout and/or hand soldering of electronic components and wires, while not required, is strongly desired.

Candidate must be able to work within a multi-discipline team to support root cause corrective action (RCCA) determinations, generate engineering change notices (ECNs), update models and drawings, and release the appropriate documentation using TeamCenter applications. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical.

Typical Duties:

  • Design and troubleshooting of power supply and analog circuit designs for lasers and electro-optics systems including the use of software tools such as PSPICE and Cadence.

  • Generating detail electronic schematics, CCA drawings, and BOM's for power supply and analog circuit designs.

  • Specific design and documentation work will include: DC/DC power supplies, laser diode drivers, and battery powered systems.

  • EMI / EMC design and test to MIL-STD-461.

  • Hand soldering electrical components and wires.

  • Generating ECN's and entering documentation into TeamCenter databases.

Basic Qualifications (Level 3):

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering plus 5 years engineering experience, M.S. in Electrical Engineering plus 3 years engineering experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering

  • Electrical design of analog and power supply circuits

  • Circuit Analysis using software simulation tools such as PSPICE

  • Electrical Component Selection and Obsolescence Management

  • EMI / EMC design and test experience

  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Basic Qualifications (Level 4):

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering plus 9 years engineering experience, M.S. in Electrical Engineering plus 7 years engineering experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering plus 4 years engineering experience

  • Electrical design of analog and power supply circuits

  • Circuit Analysis using software simulation tools such as PSPICE

  • Electrical Component Selection and Obsolescence Management

  • EMI / EMC design and test experience

  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for Level 3 & 4:

  • Cadence Concept Schematic Capture Experience

  • Cadence Allegro Printed Circuit Board Layout Experience

  • Experience with Military Vehicle and/or Aircraft Power Specifications

  • EMI / EMC design and test to MIL-STD-461 specifications

  • Experience with TeamCenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) applications

  • Mixed analog, power, and digital signal CCA experience

  • Laser Diode Driver Assembly (DDA) design experience

  • Hand soldering and light assembly experience

  • Experience supporting the integration of complex laser and optical-mechanical prototypes
