Engineer, Electrical 5

Position Responsibilities

May include:

Technical:

• Develop Electrical Systems for consumer appliances and Smart Home devices - Air Handler, Furnace, Thermostat, Smart Home devices, wired and wireless sensors, IoT Edge devices.

• Perform load calculation and system analysis to select and specify transformers, relays, contactors, motors, circuit breakers, fuses, wire gauges and other electrical components.

• Create and Evaluate Wiring Diagrams.

• Design control box routing and wire harness.

• Develop design standards and guidelines for organization based on regulations and industry best practices.

• Participate in Regulatory committees and update internal design process to incorporate regulatory updates.

• Perform detailed bench and lab testing of Electrical systems.

• Support and troubleshoot electrical issues in products in field.

• Participating in research and development of new electrical technologies.

• Developing and implementing energy-efficient electrical systems.

• Ensuring electrical safety regulations and codes are followed.

• Developing project plans and schedules for electrical projects.

• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations related to electrical systems.

• Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures.

• Conducting cost and feasibility analyses for electrical projects.

• Participating in research and development of new electrical technologies.

Other:

• Interface well with other teams to perform root cause analysis and develop solutions to production problems.

• Coordinate with production engineering and maintenance teams to lead

• Present and justify design decisions in design review meetings.

• Develop dFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, 5-Why.

• Develop best practices training material for internal engineering training.

• Responsible for consulting the Engineering team to arrive at balanced, appropriate engineering solution.

• Support junior engineers in technical capacity.

• Principal Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in driving the development of complex electrical engineering projects, providing technical expertise and leadership to ensure that projects are completed successfully.

Knowledge & Skills

Technical

• In-depth knowledge of electrical components and mathematical model behind the components

• Knowledge of symbols used in wiring diagram, such as the main symbols, lines, and the various connections.

• Design and specification of PSC and BLDC Motor

• UL and NEC guideline

• EMI/EMC Principles

• PLM Systems (Windchill, Savvion, Teamcenter or similar)

• Solid understanding of power systems, including how power is generated, transmitted, and distributed

• Design and implement control systems, such as those used in manufacturing, automation, and robotics

• Proficient in computer programming, particularly in languages such as C and Python, which are commonly used in embedded systems and signal processing applications

• Thorough understanding of electromagnetic fields and their interactions with electrically charged particles and materials

• Manage projects effectively, including defining project scope, setting timelines, and managing budgets

• Strong understanding of digital electronics, including logic gates, microcontrollers, and digital signal processing

• The role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices, as well as project management skills and leadership qualities

• Understanding of electro-mechanical systems.

• Proven repeated experience with development and troubleshooting of Electrical systems

• Ability to present technical information to customers, stakeholders, and other departments within the company

• Responsible for overseeing and managing complex electrical engineering projects, teams, and programs

Experience

• 15 years of relevant experience

• 10+ years of project management experience

• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex Electrical projects, with distributed, medium to large size project team

Education/Certification

• BS , Electrical Engineering
• MS, PhD preferred
• BSEE, BSEET or other relevant BS Engineering degree with a controls focus
