Job Overview

In this role you will be helping to support and improve the efficacy of T-Mobile's Cyber Operations teams. This will be achieved through data engineering and applying statistical and advanced analytics combined with cybersecurity knowledge to surface trends, reveal detection and capability gaps, and solve a wide range of challenges to create real security value from data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborates and participates on identification of security needs & recommends plans/resolutions. Implements, tests & monitors info security improvements.

  • Maintains visibility inside & outside of info security at an Engineering professional level. Communicate with groups such as application support, engineering ops, finance, privacy, risk management, etc.

  • Help implement security projects driven by groups both internal and external to info security

  • Familiarity with implementation of various threat modeling approaches pertaining to one or more of the following STRIDE, PASTA, TRIKE, ATTACK TREE, DREAD, KILL CHAIN, CAPEC, Mobile Application threat model, Cyber Threat Tree, and data flow diagram

  • Familiarity with the analysis of underlying technologies that form the solution necessary for the application of threat identification, analysis, and thread model design. The threat model depicts trust boundary, threat agent(s), threat vector(s), and safeguard(s) necessary to protect person, asset, data, and T-Mobile brand.

  • Develop advanced analytical solutions and novel methods for detecting new cybersecurity threats.

  • Design and implement a data modeling process for security platforms.

  • Process, correlate and perform data analysis on structured and unstructured data to identify cybersecurity threats and trends.

  • Apply data to identify operational improvement opportunities for Cyber Operations teams.

  • Produce useful visualization dashboards for Cyber Operations teams.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience

Work Experience

  • 2-4 years Experience in info security technology or related field

  • Strong knowledge of multiple security subject areas

  • Some knowledge of critical security elements, threats, vulnerabilities, and safeguards

  • Knowledge of information security policies and regulatory controls (per team function)

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate internally, upward, and cross functionally; ability to communicate with multi-functional team members to gain support required to accomplish assignments; able to build coalitions.

  • Always act with tact and integrity, and communicate with a variety of individuals in a positive and productive manner

  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks to complete independently; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines

  • Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in the area of info security.

  • 2-4 years Experience working in a large enterprise

  • 2-4 years Experience in a dedicated security engineering role

  • Presentation skills to large and small audiences.

  • Authority in a few facets of network & information security, including Firewall policy design, SSL Certificate management, vulnerability analysis & mitigation, and other topics as assigned.

  • Understanding of T-Mobile's network elements and how they work together (EIT, Engineering & 3rd Party).

  • Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI

  • Knowledge of Scripting tools (Python/Perl/Shell/HTML/PHP).

Highly Preferred

  • Strong understanding of security logging and alerting solutions.

  • Experience working with data to improve cybersecurity defenses.

  • Experience working with large, diverse datasets (100's of terabytes).

  • Experience with cyber defense operations functions.

  • Experience developing visualizations of data trends with a cybersecurity focus

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CISSP and/or CCSK and/or CCSP and/or CISA/CISM certification a plus (Preferred)

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) (Preferred)

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (Preferred)

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Washington Pay Range: $103,800 - $140,500

o The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.

o At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance, while Retail and Business Sales roles are eligible for monthly or quarterly sales incentives.
