You will be part of a team responsible for designing innovative and manufacturable closure systems. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and be excellent at multi-tasking.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the design of all major car closure systems including, doors, hood, trunk, windows, etc. Including, all mechanisms, sealing systems and hardware (hinges, latches, etc.)

  • Benchmark closure systems designs

  • Work closely with CAE teams interpreting and using analysis results to guide and evolve the design

  • Work with manufacturing to insure efficient buildable designs

  • Work efficiently within a multidisciplinary cooperative environment

  • Support prototype builds in a hands-on manner

  • Devise tests to prove out the design

You should have:

  • Expertise in vehicle closure systems design

  • Experience with NX or equivalent CAD systems

  • Solid track record of successful system level integration

  • Experience working with Class A surface data

  • Experience with castings, extrusion process, stampings and their advantages and limitations

  • Working knowledge of Aluminum and Magnesium structure joining techniques.

  • Proof of excellence in your past position, while demonstrating profound creativity in resolving mechanical design problems

  • Experience in full life cycle, from concept to prototype to full production

Bonus points:

  • Experience with composites

  • Experience with GD&T

  • Fabrication experience

  • 3D printing and/or CNC experience

Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

This position requires a highly experienced professional with a proven track record of subject matter expertise in body structures. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and be excellent at multi-tasking. You will: * Design and develop weight-efficient BIW structural designs to deliver the highest level of performance in NVH, durability and crash performance * Perform detailed analysis of sections properties, materials, and manufacturing processes through benchmarking * Interact with the design studio and the styling surface to assess feasibility for a world-class vehicle body structure * Work closely with cross-functional teams such as CAE by interpreting and using analysis results to guide and evolve the design * Work with manufacturing to ensure efficient process sequence and build quality * Conduct physical tests on the design to meet performance targets * Coordinates and communicates with interfacing Suppliers * Effectively provide direction to others and negotiate a balanced solution * Work with internal customers, Manufacturing, Design and Product development, as well as the Supply Base, on items such as tool buy-offs and secondary component changes You have: * Expertise in vehicle closure systems design * Experience with CATIA v5 or V6 * Solid track record of successful system level integration * Experience working with Class A surface data * Experience with castings, an extrusion process, stampings, and their advantages and limitations * Working knowledge of Aluminum and Magnesium structure joining techniques * Proof of excellence in your past position, while demonstrating profound creativity in resolving mechanical design problems * Experience in full life cycle, from concept to prototype to full production Education: * Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Bonus points: * Recent and extensive design release BIW structures experience * Extensive knowledge of sheet metal stamping and die processes, stress testing, formability, and spot welding * Possesses vehicle prototype build and product launch experience * Experienced in working on lightweight body structure research projects and with composites Lucid Motors is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
