MAINTENANCEENGINEER

LOCATION: Story City, IA

SUMMARY: Provides Engineering expertise to thefacility for the discharge of assigned projects in the areas of machine design,plant and facility design / construction, equipment installation, qualityimprovements and safety.

The position also provides extensive Engineeringsupport for Maintenance functions and Production activities. This person will,at times assist the Plant Engineer in the planning, directing, and coordinatingof the activities concerned with the Engineering and Maintenance departments.This position will entail a more hands on approach to projects than the

Engineering position but will also require an in depth knowledge of sound

Electrical or Mechanical engineering and trade practices.

ReportingRelationship: Plant Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide'nuts and bolts' level Engineering / Design for daily maintenance andimprovement projects.
Hands-onproject involvement including fabrication, assembly and installation ofapparatus and machinery.
Understandthe functionality of the equipment within the facility to assess productionneeds and improvement possibilities.
Athorough knowledge of PLC based systems, process control / instrumentation, andA.C. / D.C. motor control architecture.
Projectmanagement, both actual, functional, and financial.
Providetraining for operators, supervisors, managers, and maintenance personnel in theareas of machine operation, troubleshooting and safety.
Throughclose involvement with the daily activities of the shift maintenance personnel,be aware of repetitive problems, and generate proposed resolutions for thoseissues.
Understandand assist implementation of administrative systems within the Engineering /Maintenance Department.
Createand/or assist in the creation of manuals.
Create/ generate documentation for projects including but not limited to drawings,schematics, layouts and flowcharts.
Mustpossess a good understanding and respect for electrical and rotating machinery.
Mustpossess a healthy work ethic and positive attitude toward APC and the facilityand management.
Adhereto all company safety guidelines
Attendand participate in all company mandated meetings.
Anyother responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES

Assistthe Plant Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, in the supervision of themaintenance staff as directed or designated by the Plant Engineer. Inparticular, during times when the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor arenot in the plant, the Engineering Technician may be assigned to perform thoseduties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-yearcollege or university, three years related experience and/or training, orequivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpretgeneral business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, orgovernmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence,and procedure manuals. Ability toeffectively present information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICALSKILLS: Ability to add,subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals.

Abilityto compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts suchas discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and dealwith a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limitedstandardization exists. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, orschedule form.
