Serves as an Engineer in the Structures Engineering group. Utilizes good judgement, technical expertise and practical experience, providing engineering support to Base, Line and Shop Operations. Designs and evaluates sheet metal and composite repairs on Boeing and Airbus aircraft structures.
Knowledgeable about corrosion mitigation on aircraft structures
Familiar with fatigue, strength of materials and aircraft structures
Researches and provides recommendations to aircraft structures items by working with OEM, vendors, MROs, HAL maintenance and maintenance control
Serves as a project engineer for assigned area. Possesses applicable knowledge for large commercial aircraft in Part 121 operation
Provide technical assistance to line, base, shop and check maintenance team
Authors engineering projects, repairs and develops technical data as needed to support HAL aircraft.
Researches, recommends and approves modifications, repairs or part alternatives
Substantiates the repairs in accordance with industry accepted practices and Federal Aviation Administration applicable requirements
Reviews documents including Service Bulletins, FARs, Airworthiness Directives, and other manufacturer issued publications
Research, recommend and approve modifications or part alternatives
Interface with equipment vendors, industry partners, MRO providers and regulatory authorities
Collaboration with HAL Planning, MROs, QA, Supply, Materials and Maintenance for process improvements as needed
Participates in resolution of design and improvements to maintenance programs & procedures as needed
Prepares, creates, reviews and approves engineering documentation in accordance to HAL Engineering Standard Operating Procedures and processes
Professional development and other related duties as assigned
Engineering or BS Degree from an accredited University, or if no degree, 5+ years as an aircraft mechanic
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 25, 121, etc.). Familiarity with Airworthiness Directives and Manufacturer Service Bulletins
Proficient in common office applications, as well as AUTOCAD /Solidworks software
Good organizational and prioritization skills
Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters
Ability to work any shift, and work flexible hours beyond regular scheduled hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours, promptly respond after hours, and travel as needed, is required
Demonstrated familiarity and proficiency in HAL engineering process and procedures, involved in resolution of design and reliability improvements to aircraft systems and maintenance programs and procedures
Demonstrated proficiency in HAL engineering process and procedures. Works effectively with little supervision and provides proactive engineering support to mechanics while adhering to safety requirements
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of aircraft maintenance and specification documents, particularly AMM, SRM, IPC and OEM drawings
Familiarity with TRAX maintenance software, particularly engineering module
