Summary

Performs practical office and field work of moderate complexity for Civil Engineering and Land Surveying projects including, but not limited to, quality control for road construction projects, construction surveying and GIS data collection projects. This is a seasonal Part time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
01 Assist Engineering staff with road construction inspection.
02 GIS inventory and data collection.
03 Works on survey crew performing topographic, boundary and construction surveys utilizing traditional, robotic and GPS surveying instruments.
04 Miscellaneous engineering office work as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
01 Valid Oregon Driver's License.

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 5 days per week during the months of July through September, and part time during the months of October through June; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work.

Full or partial absence curing any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned. 01 Oversees, coordinates and directs the activities of the Building Maintenance staff ensuring conformance to quality, safety, and productivity standards. 02 Communicates instructions and job goals to the workers; provides training, answers questions and assists with problems. 03 Orders materials; maintains records and reports including daily material and equipment utilization reports and time sheets. 04 Determines changes in work methods or techniques to produce greater efficiency. 05 Responds to inquiries from the public and explains County policies and procedures; refers citizens to a manager when appropriate. 06 Performs comprehensive corrective and preventive maintenance on various mechanical systems, including steam and hot water boilers, gas furnaces, air conditioning systems, chillers, geothermal units, pumping equipment, pneumatic lock and control systems, DDC control systems. 07 Repairs plumbing systems including water closets, showers, the replacement of fixtures, broken water pipes, valves and pumps. 08 Performs comprehensive carpentry work involving the construction, installation, and repair of doors, walls, roofs, fences, office furniture, cabinets and shelves. 09 Performs minor electrical tasks such as repairing fixtures, repairing portable electrical equipment, etc. 10 Performs minor plumbing repairs such as changing vacuum breakers, repairing minor leaks, installing pipes, replacing washers, etc. 11 Oversees and assists contractors performing repairs, renovations and new construction projects; inspects work to ensure conformance to specifications and established standards. 12 Prepares and maintains the departmental budget; analyzes and projects operation costs and projects revenues; compiles budget data into final budget form for submission to the Budget Committee.
