Position Overview

This position will be supporting thedaily maintenance of the SCE SCADA control system applications, in specificallythe front end processor, data acquisition controllers and end devices used formonitoring and control of the electric grid. The support include interfacingwith PSC SCADA field engineers, Grid Operations, TDBU Substation and

Distribution Automation and Engineering, as well as the Advanced Technologyorganization in order to understand the business needs and provide engineeringsolutions that meets the business requirements. The position will also supportother SCE teams to ensure the engineering and design meets the standard as wellas adhere to policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.

Typical Responsibilities

Project Support projects initiated by the transmission anddistribution business units with the technical solutions associated with thecontrol system applications. This may include the control system softwaredevelopment, configuration, testing and implementation.

Maintenance Provide day to day maintenance support of the controlsystem applications and platform. Perform and support the engineering, design,integration, testing and deployment of functionality associated with thesupervisory controls, data acquisition and the protocols used interfacing tothe end devices. This include, IED's, RTU's, Phasor Measurement Units, andspecial protection relays. Provide database and displays support for the GridOperators.

Client Facing Representing maintenance team and PSC to interface withthe clients at Grid Operations, T&D automation engineering, AdvancedTechnology to understand business directions and provide technical support aswell as participating in engineering and design of technical solutions.

System Upgrade Support the evaluation, development and implementation ofthe enhancement, upgrade or replacement of transmission and distributioncontrol systems such as the EMS/SCADA system.

Innovation- Participate in the vendor user forum and attend utility industry SCADA conferencesto gather information with regard to industry standards and best practices,vendor product solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduated within the past 24 months with an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management or related technical discipline or have obtained degree by Summer 2018
  • Zero(0) to Three (3) years of engineering experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experienceworking on SCADA system (GA XA/21 Energy Management System Control SystemApplication), which include Energy Management System database and displayconfiguration as well as applications maintenance.

  • ExperienceLinux Operating System and programming.

  • Experiencewith maintaining GE XA/21 Energy Management System.

Position Overview This position will work closely with Power System Network Modeling and Applications. Under the guidance from supervision, the candidate will perform analysis and provide recommendations to address minor technical issues as they relate to Real-Time reliability operation and control of an electric utility as well as implementation and deployment of the replacement or enhancement of a Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications. The candidate will also closely work with the business clients to understand their requirements. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, deploying and maintaining real-time Power System Network Modeling and Applications associated with transmission and distribution operations or additional new functionality with minimum supervision. The candidate will provide support on minor technical issues associated with Real-Time Advanced Applications Tools (e.g. Power System Network Modeling, State Estimator, and Contingency/Security Analysis and Real-Time Study environment) and/or custom power system applications. The candidate will maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices in addition to providing support with all other duties Minimum Qualifications * Graduated within the past 24 months with an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management or related technical discipline or will obtain degree by December, 2018 Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in Power System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management or equivalent. * Experience in Energy Management System, Substation Automation, Distribution Automation, etc. * Engineer-In-Training (EIT) License in Electrical Engineering * Demonstrated knowledge of Energy Management System advanced applications (State Estimation and Contingency Analysis), GE Positive Sequence Load Flow. * Knowledge and applied experience in the implementation of Electrical Power System Model and Advanced Applications. * Knowledge of C programming, SQL, Linux and various scripting language. * Demonstrated experience developing and presenting technical and business information in formal and informal settings. * Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to both technical and non-technical personnel, including internal and external customers. * Demonstrated ability to influence others and maintain positive working relationships. * Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts in manner which results in win-win solutions for all the parties involved. * Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint * Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with clients, peers and all levels of management. * Must demonstrate strong ethics and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and engage in continuous learning.
