Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 2nd shift Engine Technician

• Shop position available at our San Antonio, Texas with our Power Systems Division located at 5665 SE Loop 410 San Antonio, TX. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday, 3 pm to 12 am, and occasionally on weekends. This mechanic position is responsible for big bore engine assembly providing high-quality teardown, inspection, and repairs of diesel engines (natural gas) in a shop environment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work performed.

Education and Experience:

• At least two years of diesel-powered heavy equipment engine repair experience preferred

• Ability to troubleshoot and perform complex repairs such as teardown, inspection, and repairs of diesel engines (natural gas) in a shop environment

• Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Additional Requirements:

• Must have all required mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Essential Functions:

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures

• Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer's specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling

• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions and maintains equipment and components

• Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management

• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs

• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return

• Mentors and helps train other technicians

• Maintains all equipment and work areas - keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition

• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

• Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths

• Performs other duties as assigned
