We are looking for an experienced Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality purchase order requirements, supplier approvals, verification of purchased products, supplier surveillance, risk mitigation, supplier non-conformance management and supplier performance improvement. This person will also support engineering change notices, vendor information request, MRB, daily operations support for supplier caused nonconformance, SQ contract requirements, certified parts, notice of escapements, GIDEP, defect trend analysis, root cause, corrective, preventive actions and drive continuous improvement.

Additionally you will:

  • Utilize supplier scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with those suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve quality performance goals.

  • Evaluate the impact of non-conforming product and assess suppliers' corrective action robustness in order to ensure strong and permanent countermeasures.

  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances and drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.

  • Designs, analyzes and implements inspection processes and procedures.

  • Drive changes to engineering and quality control documentation to meet PO requirements and manufacturability.

  • Develop and train quality inspectors on quality evaluation requirements.

  • Perform source inspection of product at supplier locations as needed

  • Perform and evaluate First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102 as well as train suppliers to meet BAE System's expectations.

  • Improve and develop Supplier Quality processes and procedures

  • Develop existing and or new suppliers to be able to have robust plans to deliver first time quality to BAE program customers.

  • The person will also investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.

  • The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will conduct capability assessments that verify supplier qualifications, travel to assigned suppliers, and lead multiple projects to completion.

  • You must be a self-starting problem solver who will utilize your analytical skills and trend analysis to find innovative solutions to quality-related issues, drive quality continuous improvement and follow-up as needed to meet objectives and assignments.

  • Lead Supplier Quality program support requirements to improve supplier's performance for quality and delivery.

  • Strong communication skills is required to interact with multiple levels of site stakeholders, customers, leadership and our supply base.

  • You will need to ensure our suppliers understand requirements, take ownership for supplier development opportunities, make progress reports, present opportunities, findings and drive performance improvements.

  • The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will need to lead, develop, revise supplier quality procedures, processes and train others to meet site Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. This will also include leading Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen objectives and projects to improve SQ processes and eliminate inefficiencies.

Job Description: Naval and Area Mission Defense (NAMD) product line has opening for Quality Engineer who will provide support to procurement, production, depot and development activities including the following: * Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry * AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies * Support of Production & Depot activities including coordination with factory * Support engineering development actives to provide enhancements to current product configuration including design reviews and engineering hardware builds. * Analyze product performance using statistical methods to understand root cause, identify significant variances to predicted/targeted values. * Perform analyses of nonconformities to characterize causes as routine (common) or exceptional (special), and develop effective containment and elimination plans. * Assure clear identification, physical control and competent disposition of nonconformities. * Facilitate root cause and corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability. * Participate in Program Reviews, Supplier Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, design reviews, process change reviews, qualification test reviews, and TE verification and validation reviews. * Review and approve Technical Data Package (TDP), Manufacturing Data Package (MDP), factory or supplier process changes and assign and/or conduct the appropriate requirements verifications. * Support Consent To Ship of FTB and Development test hardware in support of program deliverables. * Coordinate / publish metrics to monitor program health and for Corrective Action Board. * Understand and address complexities, challenges of using refurbished hardware and subassemblies * Integrate performance and conformance verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services * Manage the interface and sell-off of products to downstream operations or end-item customer quality representatives * Provide guidance to Engineering on Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions * Regularly interface with Program Customer, Navy Tech Representatives andDefense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Required Skills: * Four (4) years of related Quality Engineering experience * Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional process improvement teams * Competency in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques * Ability to develop and implement robust process controls * Ability to technically interface with various engineering disciplines * Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment * Ability to act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs * Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications * Knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies * Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions for various internal functions * Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control * Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test) * Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with NAMD upper management and customers * Root cause and corrective action champion * Continuous improvement leader * Ability to obtain a Secret clearance Desired Skills: * Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates) * Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping * Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis * Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis and Design of Experiments * Knowledge of Performance Specification and Requirements Management Practices * Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing) * Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or similar technical degree Clearance Requirements: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
