Position Overview

This position supports multiple departments including: Production, Procurement, Product Support, Scheduling, Quality, and External Customers. The responsible individual participates in engineering support activities in all these areas, provides technical expertise, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance to company, customer and government standards

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participates in weekly CCB meetings and completes BOM's and routings for drawing changes.

  • Provides technical assistance to production operators.

  • Manages advanced manufacturing projects.

  • Implements process and design improvements.

  • Controls manufacturing documentation including BOM's and routings.

  • Maintains complete technical oversight of day-to-day operations.

  • Supports advancement and improvement of cell operations by applying lean manufacturing principles and functioning as a Lean Enterprise.

  • Participant in identifying opportunities for process improvements and facilitating or leading Kaizen events.

  • Partners with Production Supervisor to become part of Leadership Team of production cell.

  • Prepares and presents key production results to management.

  • Initiates engineering change notices in the ME area.

  • Reviews technical merit of the changes along with FAA and customer compliance.

  • Investigates inefficiencies and areas for cost reduction in manufacturing.

  • Explores new processes and equipment to realize cost savings on new and existing product lines.

  • Provides recommendations for continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Supports manufacturing organization to maintain product flow.

  • Clarifies and corrects work instructions as necessary.

  • Investigates and resolves technical production problems.

  • Ensure that production personnel have the necessary documents and tools required to build quality products.

  • Establishes/reviews manufacturing processes and identifies improvement opportunities that support efficient product flow and/or cost reduction and lead/assists in solution implementations.

  • Supports smooth transition of new products from the Engineering into the manufacturing portion of the business.

  • Proposals and design phases of new product development, pilot builds, work instructions, engineering documentation review, training, cost analysis and design for manufacture suggestions, etc.

  • Education/Certifications

  • BA or BS degree, preferably in technical or engineering field, and 3 years related experience and/or training.

  • Experience/Qualification

  • Must be able to pass and maintain ATF Explosive Clearance.
