Honeywell's Smart Energy group has an opening for an Sr Business Analyst in our Honolulu, HI Office. The position is for an energy conservation program that provides rebates on energy efficient goods and services for residential homes & small businesses.

The general nature and level of work for this position includes but is not limited to:

  • Create and maintain project plans: identifying project deliverables, product releases, milestones and share team progress to stakeholders.

  • Manage new initiatives from design to rollout for the residential energy efficiency programs.

  • Maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients, including specific trade ally partners.

  • Identify opportunities for enhancements to productivity by streamlining current processes.

  • Manage processing of custom projects up to and including refinement of current process.

  • Back-up support to the call center as a 2nd level support resource to our Trade Allies and end use customers.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience
  • 2+ years' experience in project/program management with a proven track record of successful delivery.
  • 2+ years' experience with MS Office, including Word, Power Point, and Outlook with emphasis on Excel.

Posting End Date: 11/26/2018 at 7:59 PM HST Job Function Reviews, evaluates and coordinates reporting for multiple basic to moderately complex projects simultaneously, incorporating observations of cross-functional impacts and effectiveness. Uses knowledge of professional project management practices to offer perspective to fellow project managers or other initiative leads regarding project planning, execution and cross-project coordination in line with Hawaiian Electric Project Management Methodology standards. Reviews projects for acceptable levels of scope control, budget control, and cost control while securing indicators of project risks. Helps review projects to assure that legal, internal audit, financial, regulatory, safety and other company compliance requirements are met. Develops project portfolio tracking and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tools to summarize progress relative to project portfolio objectives, highlighting issues of interest to management. Uses presentation and communication skills to share project progress and status information for multiple projects as part of management and executive review sessions. Project portfolio topic areas may span the full organization inclusive of capital/construction projects, Information Technology (IT) projects and organizational process improvement projects. Portfolios reviewed and supported may often involve important strategic initiatives such as corporate transformations, legislative mandates or other broad organizational objectives. Filtering information to separate and define material reporting items from other forms of incidental project information is important. Typically that would also involve developing an appreciation of overall portfolio goals and potentially developing specific KPIs (for approval by management) to assess progress toward goals. Portfolio management responsibilities may also involve tracking of approval processes associated with the portfolio including corporate procedures associated with Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Effectively communicates important elements of portfolio performance inclusive of relevant project progress, interdependency management, risk management, portfolio goal achievement and compliance confirmation. Fundamental Responsibilities Oversees Project Planning. Reviews and provides peer guidance on project approach strategies and project methodology options appropriate to the level of complexity and risk associated with a project. Reviews and provides peer guidance on project charters and other planning documents including scope statements, work breakdown structures and activity schedules with cost estimates, risk management and project quality approaches. Reviews and provides peer guidance on project resource plans, communication and stakeholder management plans while also reviewing and providing perspectives on the governance strategies, risk mitigations and other tactics appropriate to meet the integrated plans. Facilitates the negotiation of project scope, schedule and cost between project managers and sponsors to obtain approvals. Monitors project execution. Reviews project performance data to assess progress toward project goals. Assists project managers with the early-identification of potential problem areas and helps tags high level problems for resolution before they expand. Helps identify cross-functional resources that may be of assistance to project teams. Helps project managers arrange the resources, information and direction necessary to successfully perform their jobs. Digests project progress, cost and analysis reports as required to understand project status. Provides performance feedback to peer project managers as appropriate. Reviews and offers independent observations when asked by project sponsors regarding proposed changes to project scope, schedule and cost. Defines key elements of a business case and sets out evaluation requirements for candidate projects within a portfolio. Reviews candidate project business case compilations and helps make priority or scheduling recommendations regarding the acceptance or initiation of projects. Facilitates the review of business case materials by project review committees. Assists with and participates in project compliance reviews or audits to ensure that work is progressing in conformance with methodology standards (including quality), Hawaiian Electric policies, and in accordance with project plans or specifications. Participates as a subject matter expert in special projects, which may consist of business case preparation or other development work part of larger projects or initiatives. Participates in work unit and departmental process improvement efforts to further develop project management resource materials, procedures, tools and contribute to project management knowledge base. Participates in unit work strategy assessments and helps develop methods for allocation of project duties among peer project managers. Participates in unit and departmental administrative duties including preparing work requests, evaluating company or department work requests and making recommendations. SharePoint experience highly desired. * Working knowledge of the principles and dynamics of project management and portfolio management information systems such as Microsoft Project Server, Planview, Clarity, Primavera, etc. * Working knowledge of company policies and procedures as related to specific projects and assignments. Experience Requirements: * Extensive (7 or more years) experience involving the implementation of projects involving organizational change, introduction of new workplace processes and technologies, financial, telecommunications or utility systems. Experience within a corporate, institutional or consulting environment preferred. * A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as business, engineering, information systems, project management, communications or equivalent is desired. * Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is highly desired.
