Position Summary:

The Energy Modeler is responsible for assessing, identifying, and overseeing opportunities to reduce energy use for buildings. An Energy Modeler will frequently interact with clients, contractors, and engineers to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Energy Auditing

  • Obtain, review, and analyze data collected from field surveys and utility data compilations.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of existing building operations and its MEP systems.

  • Assist with the identification and evaluation of improvements for energy conservation that is code compliance of demonstrates life cycle cost effectiveness.

  • Develop technical reports.

  • Energy Modeling

  • Develop or facilitate the development of engineering-based energy models to simulate existing and proposed operations of buildings or systems.

  • Work collaboratively with the team to identify and evaluate scope of potential improvements.

  • Develop life cycle cost analyses and other engineering economic analyses.

  • Provide supporting documentation on engineering calculations, methodologies, etc. when required.

  • Measurement and Verification (M&V)

  • Develop and implement IPMVP Adherent Measurement & Verification (M&V) plans.

  • Develop energy consumption baselines and adjustments through regression analysis and other appropriate methods.

  • Coordinate with clients, utility representatives, energy analysts, engineers, construction managers, and commissioning agents during all project stages to assist in designing and implementing M&V plans for continuous monitoring of energy and water performance.

  • Review design documents, M&E specifications, and shop drawings of metering system to confirm all M&V requirements are met.

  • Verify utility performance of facilities and validate savings.

  • Review and analyze energy performance including data collection, utility bill accounting, sub-metering data analysis, and utility cost analysis.

  • Other

  • Stay informed of all applicable energy codes and standards.

  • Perform the assigned duties with minimal supervision, while working in a team problem-solving environment.

  • Expected to travel 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • One (1) to Five (5) years related experience.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Familiarity with building MEP systems and ASHRAE standards.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members including energy analysts, engineers, and contractors.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Intern (EI) licensure.

  • CEM or related certifications

  • Experience and understanding of large commercial HVAC systems.

  • Experience with green building rating systems such as LEED or Green Globes.

  • Complete understanding of IPMVP framework and M&V Guidelines.

  • Experience working with various types of meters, metering systems, or building automation systems.

The selected candidate will provide account management, trade ally (HVAC contractor) management and field/technical services for a utility energy efficiency program within the residential sector. The position will require frequent travel to meet with trade allies throughout Arkansas. The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a trade ally network to deliver program services throughout Arkansas, developing budgets and energy savings goals for a Trade Ally network, managing expenses within established budgets, reporting and recordkeeping, and performing Quality Assurance activities such as field inspections and customer surveys, as appropriate. Candidate should have knowledge, experience, and understanding of energy efficiency and the Arkansas market. Candidates with a Certified Energy Manager credential is a preferred. Responsibilities: * Work in support of various utility sponsored programs that encourage energy efficiency in the residential market * Employee will spend at least 60% of their time in the field. The field work includes: * Conduct outreach * Trade ally management * Performing QAQC * Performing desktop review of energy efficiency applications * Data entry of applications * Building and maintaining relationships with trade allies and industry associations * Promoting program offerings * Providing technical services, and other support * Analyzing savings from efficiency improvements * Maintaining strong ongoing communications with participants in order to assess their needs and to receive feedback on their experience with the program * Working with the analytics team to develop new program measures * Develop a data driven outreach strategy to recruit and retain new and existing customers to participate in energy efficiency programs * Prospect, identify, and qualify potential energy efficiency upgrades for customers * Cultivate and develop new business through long-term relationships by ensuring high customer satisfaction with the program Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study * 5+ years of experience * Demonstrated capabilities in building and maintaining relationships with key market actors * Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check Preferred Skills/Experience: * Experience and knowledge of residential energy efficiency in Arkansas * Experience working in or managing an HVAC trade ally network * Certified Energy Manager or BPI credentials * Superior proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) * Excellent math skills * Bilingual a plus Professional Skills: * Outstanding analytical, writing, and communication skills and excellent interpersonal and self-motivation skills * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making capabilities * Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment * Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment * Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information * Ability to work with all levels of internal employees, as well as outside clients and vendors * Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude * High degree of self-confidence, determination, and motivated to excel * Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines * Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness Working at ICF Working at ICF means applying a passion for meaningful work with intellectual rigor to help solve the leading issues of our day.
