Do you enjoy working with a variety of partners to make progress toward a shared goal? Then look no further! The Virginia Department of Energy is seeking an Energy Efficiency Workforce Coordinator to manage the agency's energy efficiency workforce development programs. These new programs, which seek to create a ready workforce to complete high-demand residential energy efficiency projects, are federally funded from sources including the Inflation Reduction Act's Training Residential Energy Contractors (TREC) program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for convening a workforce development advisory group, establishing and maintaining partnerships with a wide set of public and private entities, procuring and managing contracted program support, managing program budgets, conducting federal compliance activities, and completing other activities required to successfully manage state-sponsored workforce programs. This position is federally funded with funds approved through August of 2027.
Employment beyond that date is contingent upon the availability of additional state or federal funds. This position is currently approved to work a Hybrid telework schedule with four days in the office and one day of telework.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to qualify for this position:
Ability to manage program planning, operations in compliance with set guidelines, budgeting, performance evaluation, and reporting and well as to procure and manage external vendors providing program support
Experience related to workforce development, including experience working with public and private entities involved in workforce development such as workforce development boards, community colleges, private training providers, labor unions, and federal and state entities managing registered apprenticeships.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state, and local government officials and representatives of private contractors, advocacy groups, and community-based organizations
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, preferably including those involving government protocols
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to analyze and communicate information clearly and concisely
A strong working knowledge of computer business and communications application software such as Microsoft Office
A valid driver's license with a good driving record
This position has been designated as required to file a Statement of Economic Interest in accordance with Section 2.2-3114 of the Code of Virginia. In addition, individuals accepted for employment will have to pass a drug test, driving record check, background check, and successfully complete reference checks as part of the Virginia Energy pre-employment process.
