We are seeking an Energy Adequacy Analyst who will work with the power procurement team to help manage the Resource Adequacy (RA) portfolio and lead RA compliance filings. This individual will also support the Renewable Energy Credit (REC) and Carbon Free/emissions (CF) portfolio and compliance.

The Energy Adequacy Analystwill:

  • Support the oversight and tracking of Resource Adequacy (RA) and proactively participate in creating tools and systems for RA tracking in collaboration with consultants and internal experts.
  • You will build and maintain relationships with power suppliers and relevant stakeholders, participating in power procurement efforts while ensuring compliance with Risk Management policies. 
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance by working closely with the Scheduling Coordinator to promptly submit accurate RA compliance filings and aid in REC/Renewable Portfolio Standard/Carbon compliance filings.
  • Participate in or lead contract negotiations with partners using Western Systems Power Pool (WSPP) and Edison Energy Institute (EEI) contract formats.
  • Assist with additional procurement and compliance tasks within the Power Resources department.
  • Assist in the monthly settlement process and verify invoices.
  • Communicate portfolio positions to senior management and obtain feedback and approval on procurement decisions.
  • Respond to data inquiries from Finance, Data Analytics, Local Development units, and other relevant teams.
  • Performing other assigned duties.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree along with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in energy, utilities, business, or a related field.
  • Helpful to have experience and familiarity with commercial contracts and terms, California energy markets, and regulatory compliance, however this is not a requirement.
  • Previous experience in energy trading, analytics, or policy is also desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, as well as data visualization tools or similar software.
