Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting physicians and nursing staff pre, post and during G.I. and pulmonary procedures and during care of patients. Supports staff ensuring proper set-up and functioning, stocking, ordering and maintenance of necessary equipment under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.

Qualifications

Minimum:

HS diploma/GED or anequivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary

Preferred:

One year of experience in direct patient care in operating room or other technical field is preferred

Certified Nurse Assistant preferred

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-18T00:00 City Phoenix State Arizona Telecommute No Department Gastroenterology & Hepatology Position description The Endoscopy Technician assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy. The technician assists with assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. The technician is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). The technician is responsible for assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as ERCP, EUS/EBUS, GI bleeds, food bolus and foreign body removal, stenting of the esophagus, duodenum, colon, bile and pancreatic ducts in the Endoscopy Department and other areas of the hospital. The Inpatient/365 Endoscopy Technician works in the inpatient environment and/or a work area that operates 365 days per year. May have restricted on-call responsibilities outside of 'normal' work hours and may be cross-trained to work in multiple sites at the employer's discretion This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span, appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs, and be able to communicate data reflective of the patient's status. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Requires 1+ year(s) of GI experience. Additional qualifications Medical background and experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technical Specialist (GTS) preferred. Familiarity with the digestive tract and respiratory disease processes. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Excellent communication skills. Minimal typing and basic computer skills. Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals. License or certification Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Exemption status Non-exempt Compensation Detail Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $18.03 per hour.
