Position Summary

Posting Note: PRN

This position performs technical duties as they relate to provision of supplies and equipment for endoscopies and bronchoscopies as well as provides optimal technician support for each procedure within endoscopy/bronchoscopy specialty.

Position Duties

  • Prepares for procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies for individual cases, ensuring the working order of instrumentation and equipment prior to the start of each procedure.

  • Participates in the re-stocking, re-supplying, and cleaning of endoscopy rooms, specialty carts, and equipment. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area and reports unsafe conditions.

  • Cleans endoscopy scopes according to manufacturers recommendations and AAMI standards.

  • Assists under the direction of the physician and RN before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

The Patient Care Technician performs patient related care tasks (direct care, EKG, phlebotomy). Also assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. Obtains and records patient vital signs, monitors and records daily intake and output along with obtains specimens, including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens. Performance of EKG's and blood glucose monitoring and will also monitors and performs actions to decrease patient length of stay including but not limited to: use of computerized Bed Tracking System, performing timely designated discharge duties, and communicating discharge information to appropriate staff. Will also assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests, clinical procedures, and other tasks as requested as well as communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Document all interactions in patient's medical record. The PCT may assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard.
