Job Summary: Works with the endoscopy team, under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse by assisting the physician in providing safe and effective care to endoscopy patients during the pre, intra, and post-operative period. Takes call for unscheduled endoscopy procedures

Job Responsibilities:
Supports patient's rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and religious diversity.
Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Exhibits responsibility for departmental and personal work schedules with regards to flexibility to meet the staffing needs of the department.
Conducts self in a professional manner.
Acts in accordance with hospital policies, meets the requirements of the Code of Conduct, and identifies any conflicts of interest.
Follows principles of aseptic technique.
Appropriately sets up endoscopy procedure rooms with equipment and supplies for endoscopy procedures and obtains additional supplies/equipment for the endoscopy team according to physician's preference cards.
Follows policy and procedures for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of scopes and instruments.
Follows policy and procedure for environmental cleaning and housekeeping.
Stocks patient rooms daily and prn to assure all necessary supplies are available before patient enters the room.
Maintains a working knowledge of the Materials Management (if trained), Meditech Module, Intranet and PAC's computer system.
Demonstrates competency of pre-operative, post-operative, and intra-operative responsibilities as indicated in department
Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program, medical technician program, or one year endoscopy technician experience or equivalent.
Certification/Licensure: CPR certification required. GI Technical Specialist preferred.
Experience Requirements: Preferred experience in providing or assisting in patient care and knowledge of medical terminology. Basic knowledge of computers, aseptic technique, and materials management techniques.
