Prepares equipment for endoscopic procedures. Maintains the highly technical equipment before, during and following the procedure. Serves as a part of the Endoscopy Department and, therefore, is accountable for demonstrating behaviors and skills that support the success of the team. Self-motivated. Supports the Endoscopy Department staff in all areas as needed.
Prepares sets up appropriate equipment for endoscopic procedures while maintaining a safe environment.
Assists with patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Properly identifies patient utilizing the patient's I.
band prior transporting the patient to and from assigned departments.
Assists with transporting patients within the department and entrances as needed, includes lifting patients as necessary.
Prepares patients area for procedure, if needed assists registered nurse.
Stocks, cleans, replaces, and orders all supplies and equipment as necessary.
Requires knowledge of all equipment and supplies in the department.
Maintaining a clean, orderly and safe work environment.
Exemplifies professionalism in communicating with physicians re: patient status, nurses, co-workers, patients, families, external vendors, and internal employees for purchasing and repair of equipment.
Responds to emergency situations within the unit and those requiring use of the travel cart in other areas of the hospital.
Participates in mandated educational programs, staff meetings, and Quality Improvement activities.
Adheres to policy of confidentiality, meets department service standards.
Serves as preceptor for new Endoscopy personnel, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Cleans and processes all equipment, instruments, and related items received for the Endoscopy suites according to established procedures for each category.
Maintains extensive records for all items processed.
Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Adheres to all policies, protocols, and standards of care to include all licensing and regulatory agency requirements.
Demonstrates universal precautions and infectious control practices, follows written procedures for disinfection and knows responsibilities and the necessary chemical and biological monitoring.
