What You Will Do

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.

  • Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.

  • Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.

  • Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.

  • Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.

  • Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Advanced Life Support.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Understands and applies knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices, and proper body mechanics. * Understands and determines, explains, and develops dispatcher logic and transporter activities; monitors and supervises dispatcher activity. * Assists in coordination of Patient Transportation activities and services with other departments; develops service agreements as appropriate. * Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to Federal, State, JCAHO, OSHA, and CDC. * Orients, trains, and develops all levels of personnel such as, dispatchers, trainers, transporters, couriers, drivers, and elevator operators. * Assists unit director in achieving financial objectives, ensures department operates within budget, and assists controlling departmental expenses. * Performs other duties as assigned.
