SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of global Demand & Supply Plans for Exelixis commercialized products. This position works closely with Exelixis Partners as well as internal stakeholders to ensure the creation of optimized supply plans are aligned with inventory targets and ensuring continuous supply. They also work with key internal stakeholders to identify and optimize the use of available planning tools (SAP and Kinaxis Rapid Response (RR) among others) to allow effective and dynamic monitoring and adjustment of the demand & supply plans. This position is a liaison and advocate amongst Pharmaceutical Operations, QA, and Exelixis external Partners to build and maintain strong working relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage S&OP governance processes with local, regional and global scope.

  • Understand global commercial demand requirements coming from both US Commercial partners as well as ex-US partners, global regulatory requirements, and safety stock policies to maintain global production plans for all assigned products.

  • Integrate non-commercial demand requirements (samples/NFS, patient assistance programs (PAP), clinical comparator) to create a complete picture of global demand.

  • Lead supply chain planning activities to support successful commercial product launches and facilitate transition/integration of end-to-end planning as products move from Phase III into commercialization

  • Proactively advise Exelixis senior leaders of key risks and mitigation measures that are input assumptions to the supply plans.

  • Actively participate in weekly / monthly product supply meetings with both internal stakeholders and external partners to gather inputs for supply plan revisions and provide updated supply plan risk assessments.

  • Responsible for distributing supply plans (along with associated key assumptions) to all internal and external partners per established governance process cadences.

  • Build and maintain planning processes, work instructions and SOPs and look for opportunities to improve and optimize demand and supply planning processes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direction to other individuals.

  • Directing work only (no direct reports, but directing work to a CMO, Consultant or 3 rd party.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and a minimum of thirteen years of related experience; or,
  • Master's degree in related discipline and a minimum of eleven years of related experience; or,
  • PhD degree in related discipline and a minimum of eight years of related experience; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience/The Ideal for Successful Entry into Job:

  • 10 years in pharmaceutical / biotech demand planning, production planning, supply planning or scheduling in a GxP environment across the entire value chain (raw materials, drug substance, drug product, packaging and commercial distribution).

  • Experience with launching new pharmaceutical / biotech molecular entities or product line extensions.

  • Experience working with global commercial and contract manufacturing partners.

  • Experience using SAP PP/MM or Kinaxis RR is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working knowledge: sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.

  • General knowledge: sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.

  • Thorough knowledge: advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters, and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.

  • Comprehensive knowledge: requires complete mastery and understanding of the subject. This term should be used sparingly and only for unusually exacting or responsible positions required to originate hypotheses, concepts, or approaches.

  • Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical / biotech demand and supply planning (including applicability of country-specific regulatory restrictions, shelf-life requirements, lot sizing policies and inventory target setting methods).

  • Thorough knowledge of integrating and harmonizing long-term and short-term forecasts and production plans that give stakeholders a clear and transparent understanding of the key decision, risks and mitigations through the entire planning horizon.

  • Thorough knowledge of key supply chain KPIs.

  • General knowledge of pharmaceutical / biotech production processes along the entire value chain.

  • General knowledge of how supply chain planning decisions impact key financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows)

  • Working knowledge of key supply chain planning partner functions (procurement, logistics, warehousing, finance, quality and regulatory)

  • Innovative, proactive, resourceful, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills, especially using Excel is required.

  • Detail oriented with emphasis on accuracy and completeness.

  • Independently organizes and prioritizes numerous tasks and completes them under time constraints with no supervision.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

  • Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Has complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.

  • Applies strong analytical and business communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • APICS CPIM / CSCP is a plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $156,500 - $222,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
