We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team in a groundbreaking initiative aimed to bring essential healthcare services directly to underserved communities. As part of our UVA Health Mobile Care program, you will play a pivotal role in providing vital primary care services and fostering community health and wellness.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and maintain the 29' Mobile Care vehicle to safely transport staff and equipment to and from designated community sites.

  • Assist the provider team to deliver high-quality, healthcare services directly to patients within the EMT scope of practice, including handling emergency patient care needs.

  • Engage with community members to build trust, rapport, and awareness of available healthcare services.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Excellent driving record with at least 2 years of experience operating emergency and/or large-sized vehicles.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Commitment to health equity, social justice, and serving vulnerable populations.

  • Assesses and treats ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University Protocols.

  • Maintains safety as a primary role throughout all aspects of care and transportation.

  • Identifies potential areas for improved care.

  • Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $16.31 - $25.28 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required.

Experience: None

Licensure: Certified as a Health Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Valid Driver's License (VADL) and at least 2 years of driving experience required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. EVOC certification and be a released driver to transport patients required within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs.
