If accepted into the#EMT#Academy,#you will complete a tuition-free 7-week training program and sit for#the exam to obtain national certification.# Upon successful completion of the program, you will be an EMT and#start working with either of the departments below: EMTs#with#EMS#are responsible for#responding to calls for emergencies, triaging the scene, and managing the care of the patient during transport to the Emergency Room.

Minimum Requirements
Education
Experience
License/Registration/Certifications- acquired during apprenticeship program
AHA Basic Life Support provider certification
National Registry of EMTs Basic EMT certification
Core Job Responsibilities
Successfully completes the Spartanburg EMS Academy training including:
Hospital orientation
South Carolina Approved EMT program
BLS training course provided by Spartanburg EMS
One-on-one orientation with an EMT Instructor for skills assessment and validation
Trainees will orient on AM and/or PM shifts
Completion of the EMT Course and final exam
Take and successfully pass the National Registry of EMTs Exams (Psychomotor and Written)
