If you said yes to all of these, MAXISIQ wants you to join our team as an Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) Software Systems Engineer!

This is a full-time position with remote work capability. Must be within commutable distance to our Augusta, GA office or our Arlington, VA (Ballston) office location. Some travel required.

Technical Focus Areas

This role centers on the exploration and development of sophisticated backend services, emphasizing expertise in Microservices architecture design patterns. Responsibilities include analyzing third-party service components, assessing the extent and depth of refactoring needed for seamless integration into a PaaS product line, and ensuring technical maturity in compliance with cybersecurity standards.

The role also involves network integration considerations, encompassing areas such as NDN, SDWAN, IPV6, and other relevant aspects. The tools and services focus areas span multiple disciplines, including, but not limited to:

● Containerization and Orchestration

● Micoservices Architecture and security

● Model systems-based engineering

● Automated Testing

● Network engineering

● DoD DevSecOps

The Role

You will be responsible for understanding existing mission systems reference architecture, analyzing third-party micro-services, and assessing their compatibility for use in delivering new EMSO capability. Using existing development environments; you will be developing, integrating and delivering micro-services based EMSO products that integrate into mission systems operational environments. You will develop interface specifications using SysML-CAMEO to prototype and visualize system components and interactions. Working closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, and Cybersecurity Engineering teams, you will implement architectural solutions. Articulate challenges and propose innovative solutions that align with customer needs and expectations, collaborating with multiple DoD partners and engaging with customers.

The EMSO Software Systems Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and translate requirements into robust, scalable software solutions.

● Strong understanding of software, systems, network, and cybersecurity engineering principles.

● Gathering requirements and functional specifications.

● Uphold best practices in coding, architecture, and security.

● Assessing the current systems in place to identify opportunities of improvement.

● Communicating the overall EMS operational and technical vision across various teams.

● Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our backend systems remain cutting-edge.

● Proficient in network integration and troubleshooting

● Proven expertise in containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

● Give explanation for complex problems to leadership in layman's terms.

Quarterly travel required in support of Program Increment Planning with the customer. Additional travel opportunities are available for further developing customer relationships.

Qualifications

Education:

● Bachelor's degree with a major in electrical or electronic engineering, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, or other fields related to this position from an accredited college or university, as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. (Years of experience may be used to qualify in lieu of formal education, if applicable)

Minimal Qualifications:

● 3 to 10 years of experience in research and development of sophisticated backend services, emphasizing expertise in microservices architecture design patterns

● Basic knowledge of internet architectures and integration methods for microservices interfaces.

● Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

● Experience working in an agile development environment

● Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in hybrid team environments

● Strong, efficient, and effective written and oral communication skills

● Strong organizational and leadership skills

● Comfortable working with emerging technologies

● Demonstrated ability to rapidly respond to customer directed requests

Preferred Qualifications:

● Expert knowledge of advanced Named Data Network architectures.

● Previous experience utilizing development tools including Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.

● Previous experience utilizing Agile or Scaled Agile Framework.

● Familiarity with DoD EMSO architectures and requirements.

● Demonstrated ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities.

● Capable of acquiring new technical and interpersonal skills.

● Ability to work collaboratively under indirect supervision.

Required Clearance:

● Minimum active Secret clearance
