What You'll Be Doing
The EMS Logistics Specialist supports our renowned EMS System through day-to-day procurement and inventory management. You will be working with the Chief of Logistics and other Logistics Specialists to facilitate the efficient movement of all supplies through our EMS system, ensuring front-line response units remain "response ready" for emergency calls. This position will work closely with external vendors to ensure the resiliency of inventory stock and the Wake County Fire Services Logistics Specialist for warehouse utilization.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with the Logistics Commander on the expectations and direction to meet supply chain goals and objectives of the EMS System
Operate a delivery vehicle to transport materials and supplies to assigned locations including loading and unloading the items at delivery destinations
Operate warehouse machinery (forklifts, pump jacks) to unload trailers, sort and rotate inventory, and perform other warehouse functions
Load and deploy equipment trailers to various locations and perform basic maintenance on these vehicles
Stock/restock supply bins for use on ambulances
Clean, restock and maintain ambulances in response ready status
Utilize inventory management software to complete daily job functions
NOTE: This position requires work in a physically demanding, non-climate-controlled warehouse environment requiring strength, flexibility and endurance.
About Our Team
Wake County EMS is a cutting-edge emergency medical services system that is responsible for providing EMS services throughout Wake County including within each of the county's 12 local municipalities. We responded to over 130,000 requests for 911 EMS services in 2023. The Logistics Specialist is part of the Logistics team within the Support Services Division. We provide direction, support and planning on all aspects of system logistics, ensuring that our field staff and fleet are equipped to meet the critical needs of the EMS System.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Associate's degree in Fire Services, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services or related field
Two years of experience in logistics, supply chain management or related field
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Experience with electronic inventory management software
Experience working with equipment and supplies used in the delivery of Emergency Medical Services
Experience working within a public safety department or government agency
Experience working with Operative IQ "Back Office"
Experience operating fork lifts
Experience working with vendors in a government procurement role
Active EMT, AEMT or Paramedic credential
Class B Non-CDL driver's license and experience operating large vehicles and trailers

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 0800 - 1700, occasional weekends and extended hours during emergency events.
Hiring Range: 28.83 - 37.47
Market Range: 28.83 - 46.13

Emergency Service Worker Statement
