General Description:
Under supervision of the EMS Director & Operations Supervisor, the EMS Field Supervisor is responsible assisting the EMS Director in effectively overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department and for ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive pre-hospital care and treatment of patients.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the direct supervision of staff in the absence of the EMS Director & Operations Supervisor.
Supervises clinical staff for quality, safety, compliance, day to day operations. The Field Supervisor will respond to 90% of call volume including any call that requests ALS care unless there is already a paramedic assigned to that specific call.
Develops and implements clinical and remedial training requirements in conjunction with the EMS Director and System Medical Director.
Reviews run reports and charges to ensure compliance with acceptable documentation standards including reviewing CAD and verifying EMS reports are completed accurately by the end of the shift.
Monitors scheduling of caregivers to ensure optimal utilization of resources especially in call off situations and open shifts.
Monitors and documents shift activities of all shifts including station assignments and transfers responsibilities.
Assists with the development and implementation of innovative SOPs and policy to maximize the efficient operations and financial fitness of the department.
Ensures that the maximum level of customer service is delivered at or above the organizational expectations.
Assures chores, washing trucks, equipment preparedness and any other essential duty assigned to operations staff and assures all EMS response delays are at a minimum including discussing shortfalls in response times.
Performs all functions of the Paramedic job description.
Performs other duties as assigned by the EMS Director or EMS Operations Supervisor.
Will wear a Class A uniform provided by EMS including all hardware as required.
Will handle complaints and make sure the EMS Director and Operations Supervisor are aware.
Education and Training Requirements:
Current Nationally Registered Paramedic
Current license as an New Mexico EMT-Paramedic
Current Basic Life Support (AHA)
Current PALS Certification
Current ACLS Certification
NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
Valid New Mexico Drivers License at class "D" or above
EVOC completed within 6 months of hire.
Must meet insurance requirement to drive hospital vehicles
Must be able to pass a DOT physical
Must complete all EMS department training and orientation requirements within the initial employment period
1 year Regular Full Time EMT-Paramedic field experience
Experience in direct supervision preferred
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Ability to learn maintenance of protocols in the internet
