The Otis Elevator Service Center is seeking an EMS Field Engineer to join the Compass Center of Excellence team. EMS Panorama ("EMS") is an elevator management system that allows building and security personnel to visualize, control, and integrate a building's elevator and escalator systems. The individual will be responsible for EMS troubleshooting, adjusting and repair support with Otis field associates and third party partners worldwide. Additional responsibilities include assisting with process development, supporting product/component upgrades, sales support, and technical information development. Successful candidates will have core knowledge of current production and legacy Otis systems, in addition to cross-functional experience working on elevator or escalator controls from other manufacturers. The position will require up to 40% travel. The Otis Service Center is located in Bloomfield, CT, however, the location of this position is open to all locations within the U.S.A.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Provide on-site and remote field support for assistance in installing, adjusting, maintaining and troubleshooting worldwide EMS installations

  • Work with global field personnel, regional engineers and experts, project managers, sales and engineering

  • Develop and conduct EMS field education and training on a global basis

  • Help develop and maintain EMS installation/maintenance manuals

  • Support software and hardware upgrades on EMS installations

  • Work with Otis engineering and digital teams on innovation projects, field requirements, testing and piloting for new product development projects

Education / Certifications

  • A qualified candidate will have a BS degree in engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of Otis / Elevator industry experience

Experience / Qualifications

  • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures

  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair various elevator products

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6 networking, MAC and IP Addressing, BACnet and Modbus protocols, subnet mask and gateways a plus

  • Familiarization with remote software, connections and protocols

  • A strong customer focus and collaborative approach while working with global field personnel, regional engineers and experts, project managers, sales and engineering

  • Experience with access control systems or building management systems a plus

  • Experience with building automation, PLC, or other controls programming experience is a plus
