The RCC Emergency Medical Services Education faculty supports program functions by providing didactic and clinical instruction, customer service, data support, and is responsible for instructional performance and documentation. Faculty will also work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to Robeson Community College, Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) and all other professional accreditation bodies. This position will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
The EMS Education faculty member functions with direction and supervision from the RCC EMS Director and interacts with college employees in coordination with appropriate vice-presidents and/or management personnel. The incumbent will have the following duties & responsibilities:
Provide a quality learning experience for all Robeson Community College students
Plan, organize, promote and teach appropriate courses for Robeson Community College
Perform all instruction-related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and with appropriate accrediting bodies where applicable
Provide placement, advising, follow-up support services and other duties as assigned
Implement and assess identified program and institutional student learning outcomes
Serve on department and college committees as requested.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Science or Related Field. A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Emergency Medical Services or related field and/or equivalent professional experience. North Carolina EMS Credentialed as a North Carolina Paramedic or as a National Registry Paramedic. Two (2) years of experience teaching in post-secondary educational environment; or experience instructing students as a preceptor; or experience as a training officer. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor, Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), AHA CPR Instructor or ability to obtain certifications within one year of employment. Baccalaureate degree, NCAOEMS Level I or NCAOEMS Level II preferred.The incumbent has the following duties and responsibilities:
Essential Duties
Serve as the EMS Education Faculty and Liaison for EMS Continuing Education Training.
Maintaining appropriate classroom standards that include the effective management of students in the classroom and the physical management of classroom and training facilities.
Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
Fostering meaningful relationships with internal and external partners to effectively carry out the purpose of the instruction and training.
Assisting the community college and other approved entities with workshops, seminars, and support services, as requested.
Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
Maintains necessary North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and CoAEMSP records.
Maintains appropriate certifications, credentials and licenses.
Secures college assets such as equipment, supplies and facilities.
Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus.
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.
Planning
Participating in the institutional planning process, as requested by the EMS Director
Identifying potential services, workshops, seminars, and/or classes that would be of value or needed by Robeson Community College or its affiliated foundations.
Identifying and communicating appropriate supplementary programs, projects, and proposals for funding from local, state, federal and/or private sources.
Organizing
Organizing procedures for the implementation of all official policies and regulations of the Robeson Community College District, NCOEMS and CoAEMSP.
Organizing, planning, and consulting with internal teams/committees,
Coordinating the development and scheduling of EMS Training for all RCC EMS Education stakeholders.
Directing
Directing the work of PT staff working for or assigned to the Emergency Medical Services Office.
Coordinating the development of training schedules, seminars, and/or any other educational activities for the RCC EMS Training Division.
Stimulating and influencing innovation and creativity at all levels within the organization.
Ensuring all facilities and equipment related to RCC EMS Training are functional, safe, and properly serviced based upon normal or OEM standards.
Serving as a role model and advocate for EMS Training Services within Robeson Community College, Robeson County and across North Carolina.
Controlling
Assisting with the development of Standards of Performance for all Emergency Medical Service Training Programs.
Maintaining compliance with established performance standards with the North Carolina Community College System, NCOEMS, CoAEMSP, Robeson Community College, and other entities.
Implementing the Equipment Management System policies and procedures for the Robeson College District, the North Carolina Community College System and NCOEMS
Public Relations
Maintaining intra-institution relationships with members of the Health Science Community, administrative personnel and other employees of the college.
Providing appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College, NCOEMS, CoAEMSP and other relational entities.
Collaborating with the NCCCS staff on public relations and marketing opportunities.
Promoting the Robeson Community College with local, state, regional, and national citizenry.
Participating in activities that promote and enhance the college's image among its various publics.
