Xcel Energy has an opportunity for a long-term internship with the Information Technology organization. We are looking for a business minded individual that also knows their way around the IT field. This unique internship will offer access to work with the IT Service Delivery Electric Transmission Operations Support (EMS) group. The successful candidate will gain insight and exposure to the elements of how IT Service Delivery works. Over the course of the internship (20-40 hours weekly), the intern will work on coordinating and communicating specific projects within the EMS Team. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in several site visit opportunities as well as intern networking engagements.


  • IT Service Delivery
  • EMS - The intern will support IT Service Delivery with daily tasks and needs. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Gain insight and exposure to the elements of application support and application development from a utility perspective in addition to understanding how those applications are utilized to provide benefit and value to Xcel Energy's EMS area.

  • Coordinate and communicate between the business and IT to develop regular project status updates and support/issues needs

  • Creating and implementing documentation processes and best practices

  • Develop relationships with the business to gain trust and develop rapport for excellent communication

  • Requirements gathering, project management type tasks

  • Coordination of communications; analysis of communication channels and results

  • SharePoint design, update, enhancement, development


  • The applicant must be energetic and competent, and willing to commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week over 18 months(flexible, but a long-term commitment)within the Xcel Energy Information Technology organization.

  • The applicant's graduation date must not precede the completion date of the internship program.

  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of business, business administration, management, project management, with a minor in any of the following computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, mathematics

  • Must be a current student. No graduate student applicants, please.

  • Freshman through Senior standing (must not be graduated if senior)

  • High academic standing

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong work ethic and initiative

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Any experiences with the following technologies would be desired SharePoint, Windows, Project Management Experience, Microsoft office suite, Microsoft project

Analog Devices in Golden Colorado is seeking an intern to work with a team of scientists and engineers to test and develop liquid-crystal waveguide (LCW) devices. In an LCW, an optical waveguide is coated in liquid crystal material to form a non-mechanical laser beam steerer used for light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The successful candidate will be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This internship will focus primarily on evaluation and design of a set of optical elements for shaping infrared laser light before and after the LCW device. Principal Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Assembly of liquid-crystal devices and waveguides Set up and calibration of testing apparatus Characterization of prototype devices Analysis of data and comparison with device requirements Report preparation and presentation of data to technical staff Qualifications: High school degree with basic science and math Basic computer skills including MS Office and data plotting Software.
