EMS Community Outreach Coordinator

The Beaufort County Emergency Medical Service Community Outreach Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the EMS Director/Deputy Director. The Community Outreach Coordinator is to coordinate the community relations efforts of the EMS Department to include but not limited to public education demonstrations, recruitment, community meetings, department events, marketing of the department, and responding to inquiries from the media/community.

Employees in this class may be assigned to the accurate processing of a wide variety of records and documentation characterized as sensitive and confidential in nature. Additional functions are included within the position's essential functions. Performs related work as required.

The Community Outreach Coordinator provides oversight of the EMS data collection systems and ensures reporting compliance with state and federal guidelines.   Duties include submitting grant proposals and managing grants received and assigned; conducting public outreach activities; monitoring Department's social media platform; and performing EMT and/or Paramedic duties providing patient care at both basic and/or advanced life support levels.Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or acceptable equivalency required; associate degree in public administration, marketing, or related field preferred

• Supplemented by at least four (4) years' experience with a public safety agency. Prefer experience in emergency medical services, public speaking, and public education/information, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

• Valid driver's license

• Certifications: AHA CPR Instructor (or equivalent): Candidate to obtain the following certificates and/or certifications within one (1) year of employment; National Registry and South Carolina EMT or Paramedic certification: ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, IS-800.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
