Job Summary:

Receives, prioritizes and coordinates all requests for the hospitals Public Safety and Fire Safety Departments, the LIFE STAR helicopter flight mission responses and Critical Care Ground Transport responses, the hospitals' emergency Medical Response Teams, the Connecticut Children Medical Centers Critical Care Ground Transport Team responses, following established procedures to confirm legitimacy of requests, obtain necessary information, pre-alert teams, notifies appropriate departments, etc. in order to coordinate the response of all resources as quickly and effectively as possible. Reports to Unit Leader.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives and coordinates requests for both, the Public Safety and Fire Safety Departments following established procedures, dispatching the most appropriate resources to include assistance from additional resources such as law enforcement, fire and EMS. Monitors alarms to include burglar, fire and panic alarms along with c.c.t.v. cameras.

  • Receives and coordinates requests for LIFE STAR patient transports by both, helicopter and ambulance transport following established procedures to confirm legitimacy of request, obtain necessary information, pre-alerts teams, notifies appropriate departments, etc. in order to dispatch LIFE STAR Teams as quickly and effectively as possible.

  • Receives and coordinates requests for the Connecticut Children Medical Centers Critical Care Transport Teams following established procedures to confirm legitimacy of request, obtain necessary information, pre-alerts teams, notifies appropriate departments, etc. in order to dispatch these teams as quickly and effectively as possible.

  • Receives and coordinates requests for emergency medical responses throughout the hospitals campuses following established procedures to confirm legitimacy of request, obtains necessary information, pre-alerts response teams, etc. in order to dispatch these teams as quickly and effectively as possible.

  • Additional duties include the support and staffing of the hospital's Emergency Operation Center during incidences that directly impacts the hospitals daily operations.

  • Documents and records all essential information and data as required using electronic computer-aided dispatch programs following established procedures and guidelines to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.

  • Works effectively as a team member with all hospital departments and its customers to provide quality service through effective communication, cooperation and collaboration.

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • One year experience in Public Safety/ EMS / Dispatch preferred.

  • .Must have valid EMT License recognized by the State of Connecticut's Department of Public Health.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and the ability to document and enter accurate data. Familiarity with electronic CAD Systems and data input a plus.

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding specific to healthcare incident management a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, assertive communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy and stressful environment, along with excellent customer service skills are necessary.

As an integral part of the Internal Communications team, this position is responsible for successfully planning, developing and executing on communication strategies, messaging, materials and events that support Group Benefits' business objectives. This will involve drafting and delivering internal communications that inform, educate, align and engage leaders, managers and employees. Communications may consist of emails, blog posts, articles, presentations and video or podcast scripts, among other artifacts. Responsibilities may also include partnering with Marketing team members to create communications geared toward external audiences. Responsibilities Provide communication leadership support for Group Benefits' business priorities: * Provide strong internal communications leadership for complex initiatives that impact the broader Group Benefits organization, The Hartford, and even external audiences. * Consult with project teams and subject matter experts to understand the goals of each initiative and the impacts to internal/external constituents. * Advise project teams and business leaders on the most effective communication approaches to reach impacted audiences. * Employ change management methodologies to promote understanding and adoption of changes. * Demonstrate a strong creative sense to translate initiative deliverables and business impacts into terms that employees can understand and embrace in a variety of media (articles, videos, podcasts, presentations, events, blogs, newsfeed posts, etc.) * Assure coordination of messaging that is consistent with Group Benefits strategy and promotes value being delivered. * Apply a customer-focused, positive point of view to all messaging. * Produce well-written and compelling communication materials that are relevant and meaningful to impacted audiences. * Ensure that all communication is delivered in a timely, cohesive and sensitive manner, and aligns with our brand voice and positioning. * Provide ad hoc writing and communication support to GB Internal Communications and Marketing leadership team. * Serve as back up to GB Internal Communications lead. * 7 to 9 years of experience in corporate communications or related field, such as marketing, journalism or public relations. * Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Communication preferred. * Proven excellent writing and editing ability; social media experience a plus. * Experience developing communications strategies, plans, and tools for a wide variety of employee and executive audiences at all levels and functions. * Strong relationship management skills: ability to foster collaboration, value other perspectives and gain support/buy-in from business partners and cross-functional "matrix" teams. * Utmost and unquestioned discretion and confidentiality. * Ability to manage several complex initiatives simultaneously. * Experience within insurance industry and financial services important; experience working with group insurance products preferred. * A self-starter who takes the initiative to identify needs and then develops realistic and creative solutions. * Proven client credibility and ability to work with employees at all levels/functions in the organization. * Strong negotiation, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. * Strong project management and organizational skills. * Demonstrated ability to lead without authority and mentor diverse project teams. * Flexible and adaptable Equal Opportunity Employer/Females/Minorities/Veterans/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity or Expression/Religion/Age The Hartford Hartford CT
