Summary:
The Senior Application Analyst is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of the software and functionality. They must be able to independently lead complex projects where multiple applications interact to provide a complete solution. This individual must be very knowledgeable about departmental policies, procedures, business operations and specific workflows. On an as needed basis, perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of the Vendor's software. The individual will be responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with the Vendor's applications. The EMR Senior Application Analyst will work closely with the other Application Analysts to ensure a successful implementation / maintenance of the Vendors software at Covenant Healthcare. The Senior Application Analyst has primary responsibility for application coordination.
Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
The Senior Application Analyst may be expected to rotate call with other team members to provide 24x7 emergency support for the department. The Senior Application Analyst may be expected to provide remote support if necessary.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills a must, will develop and maintain procedures and other system documentation as required. Assignments may be broad in nature and usually require appreciable originality and ingenuity. Works under general supervision of Manager, but has latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions.
In addition to the duties discussed above, Senior Application Analysts are responsible for the following:

Independently leads complex projects. Works independently, seeks guidance as necessary
In-depth knowledge of the software and functionality.
In-depth analyses of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of the Vendor's software.
Analyzes design alternatives and makes appropriate design decisions. Designs, validates and confirms new or modified functionality with the application environment that meets customer specifications. Understands and translates business/department functionality into Application configurations and workflow validations
Appropriately represents Covenant HealthCare by promoting a positive image to the project team, departments, medical staff, leadership and outside constituents
Listens and responds to questions/concerns of co-workers and other members of the organization
Identified and resolves complex issues. This includes identifying appropriate resources and potential solutions with minimal guidance. May delegate system issues to analysts for resolution. Provides guidance on priority
Keeps an objective focus in all interactions
Works with outside vendor and other representatives to assure a successful build and install
Interacts effectively with Information Technology team regarding equipment problems, application processing problems, requests for enhancements, and testing updates
Works with staff in analyzing workflows and process to assure an optimal use of the Vendor's Software
Understands workflow(s) of area of responsibility and their interaction with other departments
Develops protocols and procedures and updates them as appropriate in relationship to the system
Utilizes appropriate methodologies for communication, issue tracking, system, and project documentation. Examples of appropriate tools include Microsoft Office, Footprints, and Wrike. Examples of appropriate forums include professional letters, conference calls, presentations, huddles, team and committee meetings.
Understands regulatory requirements in relationship to the system
Coordinates software updates/changes with end users and other team members
May be required to review and tests each new release and communicates needed changes to the Vendor before users are permitted to access the new release
Assist in evaluating replacement and new hardware needs for the IT Department.
May be required to develop/assists with training through the development of training tools and training of key staff
Reviews and validates System Update and New Release software utilizing approved CHS Change Management processes.
Troubleshoots problems or questions from end users
Coordinates and prioritizes workload effectively of the appropriate staff.
Effectively answers questions and/or concerns regarding the system in a positive fashion
Works effectively as both a team member, team leader, and one on one
Understands the importance of critical deadlines and plans accordingly to accomplish goals
Must have the ability to present at meetings
Utilize appropriate Project and Change Management system(s) in a timely manner and with sufficient detail to foster communications with IT and other Hospital departments
Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin
Demonstrates commitment to the quality philosophy and values of Covenant by maintaining established policies and procedures; organizational objectives; continuous quality improvement; quality assessment and safety standards
Ensures all duties are performed in a courteous manner

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Must become and maintain Vendor certification in respective application within 6-months of attending first Vendor course.
A minimum of 2 years leading a project / individuals / or complex, cross-departmental projects or 2 years of Leadership experience required.
Minimum of 3 years' experience with Vendor software and its operations required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must have a strong working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, business operations and workflows with an understanding of how they interrelate to other departments in the organization
Expected to develop knowledge of HL7 transactions.
Previous experience in area of application preferred
Strong computing skills including a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, web browsing, and email applications and/or a willingness to learn.
Report writing using applications provided by vendor.
Strong demonstrated project management skills including the ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, and maintain issues lists.
Mentor/coach new employees hired into the IT department
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated capabilities in follow-up activities.
Must be a team leader with the ability to work independently as well as in small or large teams
Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems timely and effectively
Must be detail oriented and have a skill for probing for information in order to fully understand the underlying needs that drive how the system should be built
