Summary:

The Principal Trainer/Instructional Designer is responsible for the development and implementation of the training program for the respective applications; In collaboration with application teams, and other Principal Trainers, assist in developing project plans and training calculators, monitor population to be trained, create content for training and collateral materials. Responsible for conducting employee educational classes and supporting organizational training needs including EMR implementations; will work collaboratively to promote the needs of the assigned division. The Principal Trainer/Instructional Designer demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities:

Conducts general or specialized educational sessions for employees, providers and application super-users related to new and existing systems/processes, including EMR implementations. Provides support on basic application issues to ensure issues and questions are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner.

Build, test and maintain the training environment Conduct training, both in classroom and virtual for all identified staff. Coordinate closely with system analysts in order to develop proper training Participate in testing and workflow validation of all new systems and modifications before implementation into the production environment. Collects feedback from end users and communicates to appropriate person on the EMR Team Administers end-user proficiency assessments.

May be required to be on call on a scheduled basis. Performs software quality assurance testing. Assists with the definition and rollout of system enhancements and changes.

Ensures that system security and integrity is maintained at all times. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality. Completes special projects and other duties as needed. Appropriately represents Covenant HealthCare by promoting a positive image to the project team, departments, medical staff, leadership and outside constituents Troubleshoots problems or questions from end users Prioritizes issues and workload effectively Effectively answers questions and/or concerns regarding the system in a positive fashion Works effectively as both a team member and one on one Works independently, seeks guidance as necessary Understands the importance of critical deadlines and plans accordingly to accomplish goals Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin Demonstrates commitment to the quality philosophy and values of Covenant by maintaining established policies and procedures; organizational objectives; continuous quality improvement; quality assessment and safety standards

Other information:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree required OR Five years of equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training and experience AND Two years clinical or financial experience in a related healthcare operational role and/or knowledge of physician/hospital workflow Primary applications will require certification obtained within 6-months of taking class, secondary applications may be expected to complete proficiency. Prior experience in adult education and instructional design preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Possess an expert level of knowledge for the application(s) training on, supporting, or building training materials for. Understands optimal application and operational workflows to ensure training provides optimal utilization of the application. Should have strong working knowledge of hospital / office operations in the organization.

Strong computing skills including a working knowledge of Word, Power Point, and Excel, web browsing, and email applications and/or a willingness to learn. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated capabilities in follow-up activities. Must be willing to spend significant time leading classroom training and must be able to present material clearly and with confidence Willing to travel overnight for educational classes and to work non-standard and/or extended hours during peak periods of implementation/upgrade activity Must demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude in all interactions.

Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems timely and effectively Protects and maintains the confidential nature of information WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and near vision Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Occasional reclining, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting, reaching, far vision, and depth perception
