Summary:
The Medical Technologist Application Analyst is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of the software and functionality. Primary role is to design, build, and test applications in the electronic medical record (EMR) by utilizing clinical laboratory knowledge to meet current clinical evidence-based practices.
This individual must be knowledgeable about clinical evidence-based practices, departmental policies, procedures, business operations and specific workflows. On a routine basis, perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, lead projects, and other technical issues associated with the use of Vendor software. The individual will be responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Vendor applications.
On an ongoing basis, the Application Analyst will review new Vendor software releases and updates to help determine which features would best fit Covenant Healthcare's needs. The Application Analyst will work closely with the other Application Analysts to ensure a successful implementation / maintenance of the Vendor Software at Covenant Healthcare. The Application Analyst may be expected to rotate call with other team members to provide 24x7 emergency support for the department.
The Application Analyst may be expected to provide remote support if necessary. Effective oral and written communication skills are a must, will develop and maintain procedures and other system documentation as required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Medical Technologist with 5 years experience in a clinical lab role • Bachelors degree required. Must have or obtain MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) CM certification within 1 year of hire. • Must become and maintain Vendor certification in specified application within 6-months of attending first Vendor course. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES • Must have a strong working knowledge of laboratory evidence-based practices, departmental policies, procedures, business operations and clinical workflows with an understanding of how they interrelate to other departments in the organization • Previous experience in area of application preferred • Strong computing skills including a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, web browsing, issue tracking and email applications and/or a willingness to learn. • Strong project management skills including the ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, and maintain issues lists. • Must demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently as well as in small or large teams • Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems timely and effectively • Must be detail oriented and have a skill for probing for information in order to fully understand the underlying needs that drive how the system should be built • Must be approachable and have the ability to deal positively with employees at all levels of the organization • Protects and maintains the confidential nature of information • Ability to consistently meet assigned deadlines for projects • Demonstrated effective follow-up activities. • Sound decision making ability • Ability to multitask • Ability to accept and adapt to change • May be asked to mentor/coach new IT employees.
