The Department of Statistics at the University of Michigan is a growing department with three majors, three master's programs and a PhD program which numbers approximately 1,000 declared students. Our administrative and student services teams work closely together and value collaboration, hard work and fun. We are looking for an Employer and Alumni Engagement Coordinator who can develop and maintain successful relationships with employers and alumni. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proactive, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Facilitate department alumni engagement activities and events
Serve as a resource and liaison to alumni of all departmental academic programs.
Identifies, cultivates and engages Alumni support for departmental initiatives with regard to professional placement.
Plans and coordinates strategies to develop Alumni relationships.
Plans and executes on all direct mail, electronic and web based communications with Alumni.
Manage departments LinkedIn and other relevant alumni and career networking platforms.
Captures all relevant Alumni data. Maintains Alumni database.
Coordinates all alumni events and outreach.
Manage employer recruiting activity
Serve as both a resource and liaison to employers who are interested in the campus, its students, and majors.
Discuss student interviews with recruiting employers.
Coordinate annual career fair.
Communicate with employers via email, LinkedIn, and on-campus recruitment and career fairs.
Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of appropriate university information related to majors, faculty, students, and alumni.
Encourage employers to participate in career fairs, on-campus recruitment, and special programs, and to submit job announcements.
Acquire up-to-date information about appropriate career fields and employment needs/trends and salaries.
Plan and conduct workshops on career placement, resume writing, interviewing, and others as assigned.
Design and conduct two career development workshops during fall and winter terms.
Develop visual aids, handouts, and presentation materials for workshops.
Collect evaluations and sign up lists for each workshop.
Mock interview sessions: At the request of students and on a need basis.
Develop, coordinate, and/or fulfill objectives related to the implementation of new programs, workshops, and services.
Experience with university student services and/or career services.
Excellent event planning, marketing, public relations, and database management skills.
Detail orientated, ability to follow department and college established procedures/processes.
Excellent time management and planning skills with exceptional follow-through.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, produce quality work, and meet strict deadlines.
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work with enthusiasm.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as required.
Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals; support cooperation, collaboration and the sharing of information while providing the best quality product available and continuously upgrade standards to maintain quality, in all areas of responsibility.
