What You'll Do

Summary/Objective:

The Employee Relations Specialist is a member of the Human Resources team and works under the general direction of the Manager, PXD Business Partner performing a range of HR functions. The Employee Relations Specialist serves as a trusted advisor to managers and team leaders to provide guidance on a wide range of employee relations issues. This role will participate in proactive employee relations initiatives and other HR programs that contribute to overall strategy of the department and the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Counsels managers and team leaders concerning both employee performance issues and ongoing growth and development. Areas of focus include advising on employee coaching, career development opportunities, enhancing people management skills, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and terminations, minimizing the risk of adverse action.

  • Assist in investigating and monitoring claims of harassment, discrimination, workplace violence and other issues to reach an effective solution. Reviews all disciplinary action prior to it being issued to employees to ensure organizational consistency in enforcement, documentation standards and appropriate delivery of feedback to affected employees.

  • Serve as a role model, ambassador, and educator of company values, vision, and standards of conduct. Counsel and support leaders and employees and recommend effective actions that will lead to the desired culture. Proactively meets with employees to continuously listen and understand cultural strengths and gaps.

  • In collaboration with HR Leadership, recommends and assists with writing and communicating HR policies and procedures.

  • Maintain and monitor compliance with annual performance evaluation program.

  • Maintain a central database of all employees' disciplinary actions, HR complaints, investigations, etc.

  • Conduct and document exit interviews, review reports and analytics in exit interview system to detect trends and advise/collaborate with leadership on corrective actions.

  • Monitor and report on trends concerning turnover.

  • Works collaboratively with the Learning & Development department in coordination of Employee Engagement Surveys, DEIB initiatives, coordinating training where needed based on personnel interactions or complaints.

  • Provides support during any audit including: OFCCP/Affirmative Action, Wage & Hour, I-9 compliance and any other federal or state level audits.

  • Training managers and leaders on their roles & responsibilities regarding policy and legal compliance.

  • Responsible for monitoring unemployment claims and attending hearings.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

What You'll Need

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial & organizational psychology, business administration, communication or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of employee relations/human resources and/or employment law experience.

  • HR certification preferred.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State employment laws.

  • Ability to remain poised and professional under potentially contentious situations.

  • Sensitivity in working with confidential information.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently and identify when to engage others.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and other office productivity tools.

  • Strong facilitation and training skills in presenting to groups of all sizes.

  • Ability to analyze data.
