Assists in the administration of human resources policies and procedures that relate to employee relations, training, and development. Develops, delivers, and tracks training programs. Oversees employee relations programs including but not limited to incentive and recognition programs. Assists in organizational development activities. Assists in conducting initial in-take of employee complaints, investigations and workplace grievances.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recommends and develops employee training curriculum and sessions based on needs assessment and certification requirements. Researches new training techniques and programs. Provides organizational training, including New Employee Orientation, Lunch and Learn program and assists in the development of other identified trainings. Monitors and tracks training for departments.
Prepares and maintains Department of Labor Separation Notices and Requests for Information from the Department of Labor regarding unemployment claims, appeals and related issues. Represents Augusta Georgia on unemployment claims by phone or in person.
Assists in conducting initial in-take of employee complaints, investigations and workplace grievances.
Oversees employee relations programs including but not limited to incentive and recognition programs. Assists in organizational development activities.
Evaluates training effectiveness, assists in evaluating department training needs and organizational development activities. Monitors and evaluates training curriculum to ensure effectiveness. Monitors and tracks enrollment by department, course evaluations and surveys, interviews, customer feedback, attendance, schedules classes, sets up systems and equipment, cost, ROI, etc.
Coordinates and maintains library of departments' SOPs. Assists in the activities of the Employee Personnel Board, and Employee of the Month/Year selection committee. Maintains accurate records of exit interviews and employment related cases.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Associate's Degree preferred
Experience: Two (2) years of job-related employee relations and training experience
In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws including Augusta-Richmond County HR policies and procedures
Ability to organize and present course materials in an effective manner.
Ability to lead, teach and motivate employees
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
Ability to interpret, analyze and compile statistical reports. Skilled in interviewing and investigative techniques
Knowledge of employee relations program planning and management.
Knowledge of human behavior and group behavior. Skilled in mediation and conflict resolution
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Must be detail-oriented and organized
Strong time management and customer service skills
Depending upon area of assignment:
Positions in this class typically require: walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Work is performed in an office setting.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
