Job Description

The Workday People & Purpose organization enables high performance for Workday by creating remarkable experiences for our employees, candidates, customers and communities we engage with through with the people programs and services we deliver. As the company prepares to double in size over the next few years, we are transforming how we deliver services to our employees, which includes building new organization called People Operations focused on providing remarkable support and consultation services, as well as driving simple and scalable digital experiences for all Workday employees using the best of our own Workday technology.

The Employee Experience Lead (e.g. Business Analyst), Functional Operations will drive cross-functional projects as an employee experience design expert and will play a key role in reimagining the employee experience across internal programs and processes. In this role, they will liaise between People & Purpose and WoW (Workday on Workday) IT teams, and will need to possess strong communication and project management skills, enabling them to work with key stakeholders to understand requirements and shape deliverables, ensuring we're meeting key milestones on-time, and communicating status updates along the way.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing insights into ways to improve processes and programs on a global scale and streamline user experience

  • Ensuring project success, including evaluating technical/functional requirements as well as influencing the future roadmap

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work well in a rapidly changing environment

  • Experience in multitasking

  • Experience managing and adapting to tight deadlines

  • Experience working across and influencing various levels of the organization, while building trust and fostering collaboration

  • Explore common assumptions, rethink existing configurations, and see every challenge as an opportunity for system improvements

  • Redesign business processes and implement best practices across systems

  • Drive requirements gathering, business process reviews, user acceptance and regression testing, training, process documentation development, and communication strategies


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning and problem solving experience

  • 5+ years experience implementing and supporting HR processes in Workday (highly preferred)

  • Experience with software development lifecycles and process optimization practices, including agile development, design thinking, six sigma / lean, customer journey mapping, UX design and testing, process mapping (highly preferred)

Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost-effective and meet user requirements. Interacts with internal and external technical resources, as well as functional Business Analysts and Project Managers. Translates business needs into actionable requirements by gathering enough information to define a solution and drive clarity to make rational decisions. Solution focus areas include Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Sales Cloud, Lightning, Content Management, Forecasting (C9 preferred, Sales Compensations systems (Xactly preferred) custom solution design and development, and integrations to other in-house applications. Works with the Business Operations team to functionally architect solutions to meet customer needs using the most appropriate technologies - considering cost, time-to-market, and serviceability. Plans and manages small and medium projects, in coordination with technical and business teams. Responsibilities: * Works collaboratively with the Sales Operations team, along with other groups, as necessary, to ensure the requirements are understood and documented. Further, the person in this role will be hands-on and will need to understand the Apttus CPQ/CLM functionalities, in addition to Salesforce Sales Cloud, Forecasting and CPQ tools, as well as Account Planning. * Subject matter expert in for both functional and solution analysis and light design for the Salesforce platform, and related technical areas listed * Partner with stakeholders to shape requirements and ensure alignment with business/technology strategy and planned initiatives * Drive the planning, prioritization, design, development, and deployment of new projects & system enhancements * Evaluate and address cross-functional and cross-system dependencies. * Responsible for understanding business requirements, creating/grooming user stories, and partnering with the Development team to deliver a solution and a plan. * Leverage business knowledge and expertise to identify opportunities for process improvements; serve as a trusted technology advisor for business users. * Participate in change management and go-live support processes. * Maintain a high-level familiarity with other IT system/business application capabilities and scope definition in order to make recommendations re: upstream/downstream integration or functionality intersection points. * Coordinate and perform system testing to ensure requirements are met.
