Job Description:

Are you passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture where employees feel valued, engaged, and empowered to succeed? We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our Human Resources team as an Employee Engagement & Talent Development Specialist. This position will play a crucial role in advancing our mission, values, and goals by cultivating a culture of engagement, belonging, and continuous learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Engagement

  • Identify opportunities and implement strategies that encourage participation and motivate engagement within our workplace community. Develop surveys and manage feedback and response.

Talent Management

  • Collaborate with the HR Team on developing recruitment and retention activities to gain efficiencies in process and improve resources for attracting and retaining a diverse workforce. Provide guidance to supervisors on hiring, performance management, employee recognition, and staff development.

On boarding Process

  • Assist with the expansion and refinement of employee on-boarding by working with key stakeholders involved in a new employee's first year experience.

Training & Professional Development

  • Facilitate employee training programs and supervisor workshops. Support professional development and career enrichment activities.

Employee Relations

  • Develop strong relationships with managers and employees, provide policy and contract guidance, mediate conflicts and manage grievances. Monitor the "pulse" of the workplace community to identify concerns and recommend appropriate solutions. Work closely with college leadership and union representatives.

Responsive Consulting

  • Support employees on a range of HR topics including (but not limited to): employee benefit questions, job description development, position reclassifications, compensation matters, performance issues, and workplace accommodations. Consult with legal counsel as needed.

Project Management

  • Manage special projects as assigned by the Executive Director. Produce reports as required.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE:

  • Strong customer service orientation and a passion for employee engagement

  • Skillful presenter for both in person and virtual presentations

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with a focus on timely results

  • Experience creating and delivering training programs and professional development activities

  • Excellent organization and project management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Empathy, discretion and experience handling sensitive and confidential matters

  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team

  • A desire to proactively improve processes, tools and standards

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with three or more years of related HR generalist experience

  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

  • Commitment to building a diverse and inclusive community, and working with a diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Human Resources certification (e.g. SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Federal, state and local laws governing recruitment, employment and equity for faculty and staff.

  • Experience working with HRIS and applicant tracking systems

  • Higher education experience

  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements

Additional Information:

POSITION STATUS:

This is a full time, non-unit position with full benefits. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule of both in person and remote time.

  • Salary: $72,000-82,000 per year commensurate with experience

  • Effective Date: August 1, 2024
