Employee Communications Specialist (Contractor)




Robert Half is seeking a contract Employee Communication Specialist who will be responsible for leading the discussion around communication strategy during project meetings and collaborating with Creative Services on design work. The person in this contract role will support the internal communications team by project managing upcoming rollouts; scheduling communications via the global calendar to ensure executive and department visibility; and collaborating with other teams to determine the proper audience.

In addition, this person will be responsible for writing, editing and proofreading content, and managing deliverables. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail; strong writing, project management and communication skills; and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead discovery meetings and manage communication needs/schedule. Lead discussions with Creative on complementary design support and manage Workfront process. Collaborate with international team to ensure global focus, when necessary.

  • In collaboration with business stakeholders including but not limited to Human Resources, IT and Business Transformation create communication materials by writing or developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading content. Using consumer editorial best practices, produce internal digital signage content, engagement messaging to drive employee action and internal social content (i.e., managing internal Yammer feeds, intranet content) that helps achieve communication goals.

  • Create workflow so that key updates are pulled through all related materials. Maintain project workflows to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Write, proofread and edit content. Use storytelling and journalistic best practices to create engaging copy.


  • AA required; BA/BS preferred.

  • 5+ years' experience in corporate communications, public relations or similar experience. Previous experience in developing appropriate content to engage target audiences.

    Excellent grammar, spelling, copyediting and proofreading skills. Outstanding judgment and interpersonal skills. Must communicate effectively and persuasively with all levels of the organization.

    Detailed and customer-service oriented; works well in team environment. Ability to juggle multiple projects and demonstrates creativity, flexibility and proactive approach to work. Strong analytic and problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); SharePoint experience a plus.

Essential Job Functions * Develops and writes weekly communications and updates branch operational procedures and tools. * Develops the written content and provides editing support for the business line, or various other communications related to business line and resources for the business lines related reference material. Ensures written content meets all Federal and State requirements and meets Bank standards, policies, procedures, and best practices. * Identifies communication elements and makes recommendations on communication delivery channels. May be asked to develop communication plans. Crafts all internal communication related to a project. * Prepares materials for review by Executive Management prior to approval and publication. * Plans and prioritizes multiple projects with tight deadlines. Works independently on multiple tasks and projects within multiple team environments. Addresses project issues and concerns requiring resolution in a timely and professional manner. Prepares, provides, and communicates project status to staff and management. 6. Partners with bank's group/division managers to oversee the resolution of complex working problems; assists with development of training materials. 7. Partners with other business units such as PMO, Compliance, RBG, CBG, NFG, WMG, etc., to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of content related to new and/or updated initiatives. 8. May support or manage various projects from conception to completion as assigned to support Divisional and Corporate initiatives; may include acting as business analyst and/or business resource coordinator for various projects. 9. Provides editing support to other teams as needed. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Required Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field - Required * Five or more years communications/writing experience in banking or financial services. * Banking operations experience required, preferably in a leadership position within a branch (e.g. Senior Service Officer).
