We are searching for an Employee Communications Summer Intern based in Los Angeles, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a relevant major, classes, or internship to further gain communications experience from one of the most iconic guitar brands in history. As an Employee Communications Intern, you will take part in an exciting project to increase employee engagement, recognition, and connection to company news and resources. This includes producing engaging content in written and digital formats in English and Spanish, for global, internal employee consumption. You will join an exciting, fast-paced media team to help deliver relevant and timely internal communications. You'll be working with a small but mighty communications team focused on delivering compelling internal communications to our employees by keeping them in tune with important company news, connecting them with the Fender mission, encouraging engagement and collaboration across teams, and fostering a sense of belonging for all.
This role is a hybrid (WFO and WFH) position with weekly visits to the Hollywood and Corona offices. This is a full-time, 10-12-week internship (~35-40 hr/week) opportunity slated to begin early June 2024. The pay rate for this internship is $17.50/hr.
What you'll do:
Play a key role in a refresh of the employee intranet platform to increase user engagement and views, keep them informed on what is happening within the company, and connect them to valuable resources at their fingertips
Craft stories and conduct internal interviews to share progress and recognition on strategic company initiatives and to provide team spotlights
Support internal media projects with basic video/photo capture, editing, and subtitling
Develop graphics for use in employee intranet and factory digital TVs
Work closely with local HR leadership to support internal communication and engagement needs
Draft internal media updates on product launches and global campaigns for company-wide distribution (from Marketing/PR-provided content)
Maintain updates on overall Employee Communications calendars and internal asset procedures (Intranet, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
Support general administration and upkeep of employee communications platforms and distribution lists
Assist in coordinating and promoting internal special events
Support in updating metric dashboards
Work with cross-functional teams such as Human Resources, Talent Development, PR/Communications, Integrated Marketing, Artist Marketing, Operations, Executives etc.
What You Need:
Outgoing and extremely detail-oriented team player who loves a fast-paced, creative environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; will mix their passion for guitar/music with strategic and visual storytelling
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish with the ability to translate content between the two languages a plus
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and InDesign) and Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other video editing software
Strong working capabilities in Microsoft Office programs, research tools, and electronic media
Strong working capabilities in Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
Self-motivated, proactive, quick thinking, and always a few steps ahead
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment while working with the team to prioritize tasks
Collaborate effectively and work well in a group or team environment (especially on Zoom/virtually); not afraid to speak up, insert your POV, etc.
Demonstrate a positive, can-do, go-the-extra-mile attitude, curiosity, and the desire to learn
Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up sleeves to get the job done
Are available full-time (40 hrs./week)
On average, able to work three days per week remotely, and one to two days per week in our Corona or Hollywood location, and when special events arise
A plus if you play guitar, bass, or ukulele
Educational Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a 4-year university, and set to return in the Fall
Majoring in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Advertising, or a related field
Previous internship or related experience in marketing and communications is preferred
