Overview of the Role

Under general direction, responsible for internal employee communications, employee engagement and employer brand. Works closely with HR Leadership team to lead or support all HR related communications to employees. Partners with Marketing department on branding of all communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates employee programs and initiatives (topics include: benefits, compensation, performance management, professional development and others).

  • Drafts employee communications to be sent by the Co-Heads of Human Resources.

  • Researches and implements creative and innovative ways to communicate to employees.

  • Oversees and publishes HR related content on company intranet

  • Runs employee engagement programs such as annual employee survey, employee recognition, and long service awards.

  • Works with Marketing to produce videos promoting Janus Henderson as an employer of choice

  • Employs communications vehicles to maintain, reinforce and renew the Janus Henderson culture and values and a sense of community among our employees.

  • Oversees employer brand materials to position Janus Henderson as a great place to work; produce collateral that target potential candidates

  • Interacts with senior HR management to influence and drive employee communications decisions.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Brainstorm, identify and implement communications solutions that are tailored to the audience and situation; ability to think outside the box

  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and with tight deadlines

  • Ability to quickly process new information, discern key points and communicate clearly and concisely

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize and quickly shift priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Strong computer skills including excellent knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint; comfortable with technology and learning new applications. Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint or other web applications a plus

  • Three years of related experience in employee communications

  • Two years of experience managing and writing for a web site

  • Previous experience in a fast-changing environment with lean staffing and tight deadlines

Competencies Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong research skills

  • Strong planning and coordination abilities

  • Ability to work comfortably with senior management

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:

  • Annual Performance Appraisal

  • Completion of all assigned Compliance training

What Success Looks Like: This individual will be required to work as both an originator of strategy and planning, but also as an agent for collaboration, advocating for and managing relational activities with a wide range of key stakeholders including the Employee Experience team, Internal Communications and a host of related business partners. * Activate the Transamerica brand internally across the enterprise; developing and implementing local and organization-wide marketing communication strategies and activation programs to encourage business partners to engage with and adopt the Wealth + Health brand platform. * Design and deploy research to understand challenges and barriers to employee brand awareness and adoption. * Create and execute employee-focused brand marketing programs in the form of events, videos, talks, webinars, special initiatives, seminars and other non-traditional / experiential employee experiences. * Coordinate with key stakeholders in the management of internal and external functions (e.g., marketing assets, promotional activity, events, internal communications) in order to achieve high performance results on time and within budget. * Work with cross functional teams to prioritize initiatives based on brand goals and facilitates collaboration and communications across all stakeholders. * Partner with Brand Strategy & Marketing (iContent, Brand, Social Media, Sponsorship, and Thought Leadership) and Employee Engagement and Communications teams to measure and analyze ROI of marketing activation programs and recommend improvements through program optimization. * Manage activation budget details, PO's and budget reconciliation for all related employee-focused brand campaigns and marketing programs. * Prepare marketing reports and documentation on program performance for presentation to leadership, by collecting, reviewing and summarizing program needs and details. What You Need: * Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, advertising or related field, or equivalent experience * Eight years of experience in marketing and advertising, including planning, creating, and executing multi-media marketing campaigns * Three years of marketing management experience * Knowledge of digital marketing and the application of technology to marketing programs * Leadership skills to plan and strategize at a senior level * Experience helping to build consensus and drive collaboration across disparate stakeholder groups * Persuasive and confident approach to creative projects * Analytical and problem-solving skills * Change management skills and the ability to set priorities around constant change * Self-starter able to manage, train, and mentor others What's Nice to Have: * Experience in the insurance/financial services industry * Experience working in large/enterprise level organizations * Frequent travel (up to 30%) to meet with key stakeholders and visits to regional offices What You Receive: A Comprehensive Wealth + Health package.
