This is your opportunity to accelerate your success as our next Group Benefits Sales Professional based out of our Chicago, IL office. The territory offers the ideal mix of opportunities, from well-established mature business relationships with area producers to robust market development opportunities.

What You'll Do

You'll provide consultative services to our broker partners - focused on designing the right employee benefits packages for organizations of all sizes. You'll work collaboratively with the account management team to ensure customer retention and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a large territory, serving as the key liaison between brokers, customers and The Standard to drive sales goals and achieve personal success

  • Ensure quota attainment to attain sales targets and drive customer satisfaction, utilizing the full range of resources The Standard provides

  • Continually improve product knowledge, sales skills and competitive intelligence knowledge to effectively compete in your assigned market

  • Proactively seek out opportunities to mentor others and improve practices to enhance the success of the local, regional and national sales team(s)

  • Effectively partner with internal teams such as Underwriting to negotiate rates and focus sales efforts on winning the right business

The Skills and Background You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred but not required

  • Excellent driving record required. Must be insurable under corporate insurance carrier

  • Preferred experience within the group benefits industry with LTD/STD, Dental and Life produce sales experience

  • Life and Disability License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)

  • Proven results attainment in sales: Demonstrable quota attainment, solid and aggressive prospecting skills, territory management methodology and finalist presentation experience

THE DAY-TO-DAY: As an Associate in the Employee Benefits Department, you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking legal projects in a team-based environment. You will advise clients on all types of employee benefit plan matters, including: * Compliance with Internal Revenue Code and ERISA requirements for qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and nonqualified deferred compensation plans * RFPs for benefit plan vendors and negotiating contract terms * Agreements for benefit plan investments * Benefit plan governance documents and training for plan fiduciaries on their duties under ERISA YOU HAVE: * 3-6 years of broad-based employee benefits experience in retirement plans, health and welfare plans, executive compensation, pension investments, and mergers and acquisitions. * Top law firm experience, or a combination of law firm and in-house experience * Excellent academic credentials * Analytical skills, and verbal and written communication skills * Admission to the Illinois Bar (or the ability to waive into the Illinois Bar) WHAT WE PROVIDE: We provide competitive salary and benefits at all levels.
