The Role

  • Partner with Attorneys and Project Managers to support multiple client projects involving health and welfare benefit plan design and strategy and federal, state and local compliance issues, including but not limited to:

  • Research various compliance issues, draft responses and memoranda and assist client meetings and presentations

  • Participate in compliance audits and benefits administration/process improvement reviews

  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports on changing laws and the impact on employers and their benefit plans

  • Assist with updating internal external facing intellectual capital

  • Develop client deliverables in coordination with Attorneys and Project Managers

  • Play a supportive role in ensuring projects meet established budget, timeline and quality standards

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels

  • Partner with colleagues to manage multiple client projects involving health and welfare benefit plan design and strategy and federal, state and local compliance issues

  • Finalize and present quality deliverables to clients

  • Ensure projects meet established budget, timeline and quality standards

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels

  • Perform technical review of deliverables

  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches related to compliance consulting

  • Demonstrate leadership ability by mentoring analysts

  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Oversee analysts in the delivery of compliance projects

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience within employee benefits

  • Proven experience and success in employee health and welfare benefit consulting with a focus on compliance. Prior experience in a professional services firm, insurance company or legal environment preferred

  • Knowledge of IRC, ERISA, HIPAA and other relevant laws and regulations affecting employee benefit plans

  • Experience in managing multiple project work streams and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges

  • Paralegal certification preferred but not required
