GENERAL FUNCTION: The Advisor aggressively solicits and sells insurance products and services to existing and new businesses; maintains an existing book of business; and expands book of business.
The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Renews and/or amends existing policies.
Wins accounts against competitor brokers and agencies.
Builds and maintains ongoing relationships with clients.
Researches insurance companies' policies and negotiates with underwriters to find the most suitable insurance for clients at the best pricing.
Arranges specialized types of insurance coverage in complex cases.
Markets and acquires new clients; keeping sales ratios to expected goal levels.
Performs administrative tasks such as dealing with paperwork, correspondence, keeping detailed records.
Keeps up with changes in the insurance market and in the clients' industries
Gathers information from clients, assessing their insurance needs and risk profiles.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Undergraduate degree in business or related field, or equivalent work experience specifically in the employee benefits insurance industry.
2+ years in a related broker/producer/advisor capacity, or the applicable number of years in an agency support position, with the intent to obtain licenses for selling.
Excellent overall understanding of the business of insurance, and its impact on consumers.
Maintains current licenses to sell insurance.
Superior command of communications, both written and verbal.
Self-motivated individual, with the desire to listen, understand and assist consumers and businesses in selecting the proper insurance solutions for their specific needs.
Ability to use and understand effective automated documentation for agency records.
Working knowledge and use of all Microsoft Office products.
