Position Overview:

Conducts telephonic clinical assessments, establishes treatment plan based on individual needs and readiness, and/or triages for mental and/or behavioral health services. Provides crisis counseling and suicide intervention. Provides management consultation on workplace issues. Facilitates workshops and training for customers and internal staff. May be assigned to work after-hours and on weekend to ensure appropriate staff coverage.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Clinical Assessments and Develops Treatment Recommendations

  • Conducts telephonic clinical assessments to develop individual treatment recommendations, and triages caller for mental and/or behavioral health services.

  • Provides crisis counseling and suicide intervention to members.

  • Provides consultation to other EAP team members to ensure protocols and practice of assessments utilize best practices (including scripting, red flag concerns, emergent procedures, etc.)

  • Provides clinical consultation, supervision and direction to EAP Counselors related to high risk situations including suicidal, homicidal, child and elder abuse, etc.

Consultation and Training to Corporate Customers

  • Assesses customer needs and recommends CISM* strategy accordingly, and provides critical incident stress debriefing (CISD)

  • Develops and delivers training on various mental health-related topics to customers

  • Conducts management trainings on topics related to EAP referrals for suspected alcohol, drug and mental illness problems.

  • Provides consultation and recommendation to management on issues related to employee behavior consistent with employer Human Resources guidelines.

  • Develops strategic plans to address trends in problems experienced by customers' workforce.

Consultation and Training on Internal Workplace Issues

  • Creates outreach protocols and procedures.

  • Coordinates with Integrated Disability & Absence Management (IDAM) and Workers' Compensation (WC) to provide outreach to employees on occupational and non-occupational leaves of absence (LOA).

  • Identifies high risk employees who may benefit from EAP services and resources, and opportunities for improving the well-being of all employees

  • Provides consultation to IDAM, WC, and Human Resources to facilitate employee's return to work from LOA.

  • Creates and conducts staff training related to relevant clinical issues.

Process Improvement

  • Collaborates with Manager to develop and implement a streamlined intake workflow based on evidence-based practices

  • Conducts research, and recommends industry best practices for intake workflows

  • Establishes quality assurance guidelines and check points.

  • Coordinates with appropriate team members to adapt database to support streamlined workflow.

Performance Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Seeks and responds to regular performance feedback.

  • Supports and assists the team when necessary to meet service level agreement objectives

  • Contributes ideas and actions toward continuous improvement of processes and workflows.

  • Recognizes and communicates potential issues appropriate leader

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Master's: Social Work/Services, Mental Health, Psychology or related field or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker

OR LMFT-Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

DL-California Drivers Class C

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

2 years progressively responsible related clinical experience.

2 years experience providing clinical, mental health and/or behavioral health related counseling.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the continuum of care in behavioral/mental health.

Broad knowledge of community mental health services and related resources.

Demonstrates , well-honed clinical assessment skills.

Knowledge and skills in a range of intervention techniques, and familiarity with critical incident stress management (CISM) process and/or psychological first aid training.

Knowledge of workforce and workplace issues impacting employees

Organization skills and attention to details.

Ability to communicate through verbal and written means.

Demonstrates telephone interviewing skills, and the ability to build rapport and conduct training.

Ability to interact and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Demonstrates respect for cultural and linguistic differences and promotes an inclusive work environment.

Ability to maintain and work discreetly with confidential and sensitive information.

Ability to use essential applications and/or databases associated with the role's duties and responsibilities.
