In this position, you support the eMobility Group with expertise to design and integrate chassis components on battery electric vehicles. This is an emerging, exciting technology, and the right person will drive DTNA's success by helping our engineering department, customers and network adopt the new vehicles into their operations.

Responsibilities

Support companywide development & launch of electric mobility at Daimler Trucks.

Design chassis frame structure & bracketry to accommodate electrical powertrain auxiliaries, battery systems, & eAxle system onto DTNA vehicle platforms.

Lead finite element analysis & modal analysis efforts of eComponents to ensure proper design.

Assure conformance of designs to technical specifications, internal & external customer's expectations, sound engineering practices, & government regulations.

Support development of pneumatic brake system (EBS/ABS) & controls for electric vehicle.

Collaborate with controls engineers to develop proper integration of regenerative braking.

Independently analyze & provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production.

Lead development work, problem resolution, & design of complex electric vehicle components and systems.

Project management of component development covering cost, schedules, coordination with suppliers, & collaboration with global team.

Demonstrate good judgment & strategic thought when working with suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Marketing, & other departments in the product development & testing phases.

Provide field issue root cause investigation with countermeasure development & implementation.

Support creation of Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) in areas related to Chassis.

Stay current on technological developments & generate new ideas & methods for vehicle design optimizations, systems and processes.

Broaden your expertise outside of your immediate responsibilities & become an expert in eMobility topics.

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering with 4-6 years of related experience

  • At least 2 years of group lead, project lead or mentoring experience rrequired

  • An attached resume is required

  • Strong knowledge of DTNA products required

  • Experience in automotive/heavy duty truck industry or related experience preferred

  • Strong technical proficiency with DTNA products with electrical experience required

  • FEA and modal analysis experience and skills required

  • Experience with sensors and actuators preferred

  • Controls & programming experience required (Matlab/Python/C#/C /other)

  • Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management required

  • Customer orientated with a real sense for the marketplace

  • Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills required

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements required

  • Moderate travel (~20%) preferred

  • Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated required

  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change required

  • Languages: English (fluent); German (Intermediate) preferred; additional language(s) appreciated

This is an emerging, exciting technology, and the right person will drive DTNA's success by helping our engineering department, customers and network adopt the new vehicles into their operations. Responsibilities * Evaluate Functional Safety status of drop-in designs, identify gaps and plan outstanding needs * Lead Hazards Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARAs) with cross functional teams * Review Functional Safety work products: Item Definitions, Safety Plans, Safety Concepts * Moderate DFMEAs (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) * Support development of test cases and review test results * Assemble Safety Cases and evaluate for completeness * Support and collaborate with Mechatronics team to meet an acceptable safety level * Evaluate supplier Self-Assessments and Development Interface Agreements (some travel may be required) * Broaden your expertise outside of your immediate responsibilities and become an expert in e-Mobility topics. * Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5 years of related experience required * Bachelor's degree focused in Electrical Engineering preferred. * Strong knowledge of automotive/heavy duty truck industry products preferred. * At least 1 year of group leader, project lead, or mentoring experience required * An attached resume is required * Demonstrated proficiency in the application of ISO 26262 * Strong technical proficiency with DTNA products with a focus on electrical required. * Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management required. * Excellent management and leadership skills required. * Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills required. * Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated required. * Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change required. * An attached resume required.
