In this position, you support the eMobility Group with expertise to design and integrate chassis components on battery electric vehicles. This is an emerging, exciting technology, and the right person will drive DTNA's success by helping our engineering department, customers and network adopt the new vehicles into their operations.
Support companywide development & launch of electric mobility at Daimler Trucks.
Design chassis frame structure & bracketry to accommodate electrical powertrain auxiliaries, battery systems, & eAxle system onto DTNA vehicle platforms.
Lead finite element analysis & modal analysis efforts of eComponents to ensure proper design.
Assure conformance of designs to technical specifications, internal & external customer's expectations, sound engineering practices, & government regulations.
Support development of pneumatic brake system (EBS/ABS) & controls for electric vehicle.
Collaborate with controls engineers to develop proper integration of regenerative braking.
Independently analyze & provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production.
Lead development work, problem resolution, & design of complex electric vehicle components and systems.
Project management of component development covering cost, schedules, coordination with suppliers, & collaboration with global team.
Demonstrate good judgment & strategic thought when working with suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Marketing, & other departments in the product development & testing phases.
Provide field issue root cause investigation with countermeasure development & implementation.
Support creation of Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) in areas related to Chassis.
Stay current on technological developments & generate new ideas & methods for vehicle design optimizations, systems and processes.
Broaden your expertise outside of your immediate responsibilities & become an expert in eMobility topics.
Master's degree in mechanical engineering with 4-6 years of related experience
At least 2 years of group lead, project lead or mentoring experience rrequired

Strong knowledge of DTNA products required
Experience in automotive/heavy duty truck industry or related experience preferred
Strong technical proficiency with DTNA products with electrical experience required
FEA and modal analysis experience and skills required
Experience with sensors and actuators preferred
Controls & programming experience required (Matlab/Python/C#/C /other)
Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management required
Customer orientated with a real sense for the marketplace
Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills required
Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements required
Moderate travel (~20%) preferred
Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated required
Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change required
Languages: English (fluent); German (Intermediate) preferred; additional language(s) appreciated
