Are you interested in direct patient care? Eastern Maine Medical Center is offering a paid certified nursing assistant (CNA) apprenticeship program.

The program, from June 10 to August 16. 2019, is 40 hours per week paid position consisting of 16-24 hours of class and clinical experience with the remaining hours spent as a Patient Companion (Observer) on one of the many nursing units at Eastern Maine Medical Center. You would be fulltime employee while earning your CNA certificate.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be placed in a full time CNA position at Eastern Maine Medical Center for three years.

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Participate in a pre-admission interview

  • Pass pre-employment background check

  • Willing to work a 5-day work week while in training

  • Commit to Eastern Maine Medical Center for three years post training

The Client Service Specialist is the initial contact person for physicians and clients and must be able to communicate clearly and courteously in all contacts. The Client Service Specialist is also responsible for the intake of all specimens entering the laboratory. Duties include answering phones and directing calls to the appropriate person/area; processing specimens, to include assessment of specimen quality, proper identification and labeling; preanalytical procedures such as centrifuging, splitting, freezing, etc.; research of specimen type and quantity; and distribution of specimens to the appropriate laboratory area for testing. Qualifications High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Successful candidates must possess the ability to concentrate in a busy work area with extreme attention to detail and be able to multi-task. Previous experience with specimen handling and knowledge of routine laboratory testing desired. Previous experience with computers (data entry) and handling of confidential information desired.
