POSITION SUMMARY The Emergency Department Technician functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.# The ED Tech is responsible for implementing appropriate aspects of the plan of care and maintaining a safe environment for rendering effective patient care.# Duties will include obtaining and documenting a full set of vital signs, assisting with transportation needs, collecting urine, sputum, and stool specimens, answering call lights, assisting with organizing supplies, restocking rooms, cleaning and changing linen on stretchers, insertion of saline locks, drawing blood, splinting of extremities, assisting during a code blue, cleaning and dressing minor wounds, and applying ice to affected areas. The ED Tech may perform other duties, as assigned by the RN and within their scope of practice.


QUALIFICATION EDUCATION:


High School Graduate. Advanced EMT Certification or License Practical Nurse EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS: 2 or more years of EMS experience preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S): Current Healthcare CPR Certification required Valid National Registry-AEMT Certification


VT AEMT License preferred Advanced EMT Certification or Valid Vermont State LPN AMLS preferred Post hire requirement:


#Successful Completion of BMH ED Tech/ CPI#Orientation within 6 months from date of hire.

QUALIFICATION

  • EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate.

  • Advanced EMT Certification or License Practical Nurse

  • EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:

  • 2 or more years of EMS experience preferred.

  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):

  • Current Healthcare CPR Certification required

  • Valid National Registry-AEMT Certification & VT AEMT License preferred

  • Advanced EMT Certification or Valid Vermont State LPN

  • AMLS preferred
